In the seemingly breakneck pace of the 21st Century, you’re baffled by people who consider self-care an afterthought. Saying that a healthy mind, body, and spirit are important to you is a gross understatement. After all, if you don’t take the time to treat yourself well, you certainly can’t expect that others will. Fortunately, the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza, located high atop Bunker Hill understands you. In fact, this Four-Diamond luxury hotel demands that you indulge in the finer things in life, if only for your stay.

As you enter your room towering over Downtown L.A., you can feel residual travel tension begin to leave your body. You breathe deeply as you admire the twinkling view of the City of Angels, making note of Walt Disney Concert Hall’s proximity, since you finally have tickets to see the most avant-garde conductor in the world, up close and personal, when Gustavo Dudamel conducts the LA Phil tomorrow night.

But that’s tomorrow, and in the interest of being present, it’s high time to focus your attention on caring for your body and nurturing your soul. You head to the 1,500 square-foot Fitness Center to log 30 minutes of cardio, before your private Pilates class is scheduled to start.

With your daily caloric burn in the books, it’s time to let the luxuriating begin in earnest. You head to The Spa at Omni, where you’ve smartly booked the 90-minute River Rock Massage, followed by the spa’s signature 60-minute Be Well Facial.

Although you’re thoroughly relaxed (bordering on woozy because your massage was that good), your skin looks amazing, and deserves to be seen. Plus, you’ve built up quite an appetite. After a lingering soak in your jacuzzi tub, you wrap yourself in one of the Omni’s incomparably plush robes, pausing to reflect on how wonderful you feel after that private Pilates class. However, recognizing that variety is the spice of life, you decide to book yourself a private Tai Chi class for the morning.

You head to Noé, which under the direction of Executive Chef Simon Warren promises to deliver a meal as exquisite as the view from the Noé Bar patio, where you start with a cocktail. Surrounded by the glowing warmth of fire pits, work, responsibilities, and adulting seem a million miles away. You can’t possibly feel any more blissful. Except you do three minutes later, when your Cosmo Twenty Five cocktail in a chilled glass arrives. You raise your glass to toast the views of California Plaza’s waterscapes, the city skyline at dusk, and to taking this much-needed “me-time.”

Back inside, Noé delivers on its promise and then some. The Ahi Tuna Tartare manages to be simultaneously refreshing and a little spicy. You decide that you’ve earned the 14 oz. Prime Hand Cut Ribeye, and congratulate yourself for making such a good decision. Reminding yourself that you only live once - and you did book Tai Chi for the morning - you also opt to indulge in the sinfully rich Mocha Chocolate Pot de Crème.

Though it’s not particularly late, your belly is full and getting a good night’s sleep is a must, because you have a full day planned tomorrow. Today you took care of your body and soul. Tomorrow you’ll stimulate your mind by taking in the works of countless artists along Gallery Row and a self-guided tour of The Broad, before wrapping your day up at Walt Disney Concert Hall.

As you lay your head down and look out over the city, you can’t help but note the irony that you’ve never felt more tranquil than you do here, in the middle of a Downtown metropolis.
