With summer in full bloom, Los Angeles hotels are getting creative with their weekly programming to make sure their guests have plenty to do without leaving the property. Poolside movies, rooftop sounds, vintage markets and afternoon tea are among the recurring activities that inventive hoteliers are hosting for guests and visitors alike. Here are some of the notable activities for you to enjoy when you book your next staycation in LA!

Golden Hour @ Level 8 - AC/Moxy
Part of the spectacular Level 8 dining and entertainment complex, Golden Hour is hosting two weekly pool parties this summer: Sunset Sessions features house music on Fridays from 5pm-10pm; and Golden Daze on Saturdays and Sundays from 2pm-10pm.

Thursday Sounds & Afternoon Tea - Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel
Guests of the Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel can get a jump on the weekend at the hotel’s rooftop restaurant Cara Cara, where Thursday afternoons mean live DJ sets and the cuisine and curated beverages of renowned local chefs Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne. And for the ultra-civilized contingent among us, the Proper hosts its Afternoon Tea at the Dahlia Lounge every Friday to Sunday from 11am to 4pm. The hotel offers a selection of white, green and black teas as well as tea sandwiches such as crab + crème fraiche. Those with a sweet tooth can finish off the afternoon with small desserts such as a Bailey’s Macaron and a Pina Colada Loaf.

Rooftop Market - Freehand Los Angeles
Looking for some vintage clothes or jewelry? Downtown LA’s Freehand Los Angeles hosts a Rooftop Market at its Broken Shaker rooftop bar and pool deck on the first Sunday of every month. Taking place from noon to 4pm, the Rooftop Market supports small businesses and features a selection of jewelry, vintage clothing and other one-of-a-kind items.

Morning Jogs and R&B Brunch - Hoxton Downtown LA
The Hoxton Downtown LA pulls out all of the stops to make sure the day starts out right for its guests. For those looking to sweat off the weekend party activities, the hotel, which is operated by London-based Hoxton and is housed in the former Los Angeles Railway Building in the Broadway Theater District, hosts the monthly Good Vibes Track Club on Sunday mornings from 8am to 11 am. Guests have the option of jogging a three-mile loop, or running a five-mile loop through DTLA, and are served free non-alcoholic beverages after the run.
Meanwhile, every other Saturday, the Hoxton’s Moonlark's Dinette hosts its R&B Brunch Series, featuring dishes like Chilaquiles Verde and Eggs Benny along with the soulful Old School sounds of DJ Black & Miles. Brunch is served from 11am to 2pm.

Dive-in Movie Nights - InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown
Enjoy a summer cinema pool party, DTLA-style. The InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown is hosting the poolside Dive-In Movie Nights on its seventh-floor pool deck every other Friday through August 29. Selected flicks starting mid-July include The Parent Trap, Moana and, of course, La La Land.

Pasta Party - Silver Lake Pool & Inn
Humpday means noodles at the Silver Lake Pool & Inn, which is run by local boutique-hotel group Palisociety. The property’s Marco Polo trattoria fittingly puts on its Pasta Party every Wednesday evening throughout the summer. Guests pay just $15 for the Pasta of the Night and are treated to checkered tablecloths and a DJ set. Plus, bottles of wine are half-price every Wednesday. Cin cin!

Burger & Beer, Desserts and Jazz - Godfrey Hotel Hollywood

Burger & Beer Wednesdays features Chef Olivier Rousselle’s Hollywood Signature Burger with its chuck-brisket blend patty, and offers a selection of burger and beer pairings for $30. On Sweet Thursdays, ALK breaks out “signature sweet” cocktails and desserts for the ladies in the house. Tropicana Movie Night & Magic in the Library - Hollywood Roosevelt
Home of the very first Academy Awards show in 1929 and having made cameo appearances in movies such as Catch Me If You Can and Almost Famous, the Hollywood Roosevelt appropriately plays up its cinema credentials every week this summer by hosting weekly film screenings at the property’s Tropicana Pool every Thursday night. July and August screenings include Risky Business, Dirty Dancing and The Princess Bride. Doors open at 7pm, film rolls at 8:30pm, and a food menu and full bar are available until 9:45pm.
Meanwhile, Sundays mean magic from renowned magician Hubb, who’s worked nationally-renowned stages that include LA’s Magic Castle and the Chicago Magic Lounge. Well-appointed guests can choose from two seatings in the Library Bar, where they can sip craft cocktails and watch the mysteries unfold.

Painting Studio - Kimpton Everly
Hollywood’s Kimpton Everly caters to the creative within all of us by bringing in LA-based atelier Roofless Painters to teach prospective artists on select nights at the property’s Ever Bar from 6pm to 8pm. Limited to eight easels, the session involves Roofless Painters’ holistic approach to teaching oil-based painting. A minimum of two participants is required for the session to run. There will also be VIP options for those willing to splurge on a cabana and bottle service.

Dive-in Movies - The Garland
Leave it to a hotel with classic Hollywood pedigree to give its guests a chance to catch an iconic flick every night. In this case, The Garland, which was opened in 1972 in North Hollywood by actress Beverly Garland of My Three Sons fame and continues to be operated by her son James Crank, breaks out the big screen by the 257-room hotel’s pool. There, The Garland hosts its Dive-in Movies every night at sunset.

The weekend can’t come soon enough at Hotel June, which hosts Mezcal Mondays. Every week, the hotel’s Baja California-inspired Caravan Swim Club serves flights of mezcal for $10 off and pairs them with complementary chips and salsa.
