Discover The Garland Hotel
A seven-acre sanctuary in the San Fernando Valley, located a couple of miles and a world away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood
You wake up in The Garland and for a second, thanks to the cheerful retro decor, it feels like 1972. That’s the year that TV actress Beverly Garland (My Three Sons) opened her namesake hotel. The leafy, relaxing oasis is a seven-acre sanctuary in the San Fernando Valley, located a couple of miles from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood.
The Garland's builder and main driving force was Beverly's husband, real estate developer Fillmore Crank. Hollywood cowboy John Wayne attended the grand opening, and legend has it that Beverly, a firm believer in the personal touch, would change lightbulbs herself on the property.
Vintage Vibe + Modern Style
Since its $20-million revamp in 2015, the Garland’s classic California vintage vibe remains with additional 21st century chic. The renovation and rebranding was the vision of the hotel's managing partner, James Crank, the youngest son of Beverly and Fillmore.
Cool Off & Chill Out
Celebrity landscape designer Jonny Appleseed re-imagined the grounds, in between landscaping for his other clients, including Jessica Simpson, Mark Wahlberg and the two Toms, Cruise and Hanks.
Wherever you spend your day, it’s good to know there’s a hot tub waiting for you back at The Garland. And a heated pool, for some laps.
Start the Day at The Front Yard
For an al fresco breakfast, how about some avocado toast with fried egg, shrimp & sweet potato hash — did someone say bottomless mimosas — on the gorgeous patio at The Front Yard? Or, if you’re in a hurry to get to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, there’s nothing quite like breakfast at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade, it’s magical!
Shop The Store
For a unique shopping experience, stop by The Store, featuring locally sourced and California inspired items that are creatively designed, hand picked and selected by Beverly Garland's daughter, Carrington Goodman.
Experience Harry Potter & More
Universal Studios Hollywood, i.e. all things Harry Potter and much more, is just five minutes from the hotel. The Garland's complimentary trolley will take you door-to-door to this world-famous attraction.
If theme parks aren’t your bag, catch a matinee at the world-famous Pantages Theatre, a short drive down the 101 freeway. You'll love a post-show slice of pie at the landmark 101 Coffee Shop, located off the Gower Street exit. The L.A. Zoo is also close by — don’t forget to visit CJ and Indah, two endangered Sumatran tigers in love, and the impossibly cute koalas.
Stretch Out with Tai Chi Yoga
The gorgeously Zen outdoor setting is perfect for a spot of Tai Chi Yoga, every Sunday at 9 a.m. On Thursdays, take advantage of the early morning Personal Trainer Open House, with complimentary workout tips from a top L.A. trainer on how to get your body red carpet-ready.
Discover California Craft Beer
On Wednesday afternoons, check out the hotel’s weekly California Craft Beer Tasting at The Front Yard bar, led by an expert on craft beer culture.
Dive Into Classic Movies Under the Stars
After the sunset, enjoy a classic movie poolside on the big screen, or relax by the fireplace during the Reverse Happy Hour at The Front Yard.
