Coming Soon: The Best of LA May 26 - June 1, 2025

No matter your interests, LA is packed with events for the week of May 26! Two music festivals vie for attention this weekend, with Outloud kicking off Pride month in West Hollywood and Head in the Clouds taking place at Brookside at Rose Bowl Stadium. Meanwhile, the LA Sparks, LA Galaxy and LAFC all play multiple home games this week and the Dodgers go head-to-head with the Yankees over the weekend.
At the Music Center, Hamlet will open at Mark Taper Forum while LA Opera’s Rigoletto celebrates its opening night on Saturday at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Saturday night is also Cinespia’s Hollywood Forever screening of David Lynch fan favorite Blue Velvet. On Sunday afternoon, Sofia Coppola and Kirsten Dunst will be in attendance for the Academy Museum’s screening of The Virgin Suicides. DIIV - Teragram Ballroom (May 26)
DIIV, whose most recent album Frog in Boiling Water, was released to critical acclaim last year, play the final show of their three-night stretch at Teragram Ballroom on Monday, May 26. Catch the band before they tour Australia and Europe this summer. Tickets to the all-ages show at Ticketmaster.

LA Sparks vs. Atlanta Dream - Crypto.com Arena (May 27)
The LA Sparks play the first of two home games this week on May 27. They’ll go up against the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night at Crypto.com Arena. The team will head to Las Vegas later this week, then return to LA on Sunday for an afternoon game against the Phoenix Mercury.

The Damned - The Wiltern (May 27)
After playing the Punk Rock Bowling Festival over Memorial Day Weekend, The Damned heads to Los Angeles for a Tuesday night show on May 27 at The Wiltern. With T.V. Smith’s The Adverts in support, this is a can’t-miss show for fans of first-wave UK punk. Tickets at Live Nation.

Galaxy vs Earthquakes - Dignity Health Sports Park (May 28)
The LA Galaxy play the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday night at Dignity Health Sports Park. Gates open at 5:30pm for the 7pm match. Catch the Galaxy on the home field again Saturday night when they play Real Salt Lake in Carson.

LAFC vs. Sporting KC - BMO Stadium (May 28)
LAFC plays at BMO Stadium twice this week - their last home games until mid-June. On Wednesday, May 28, they’ll face off against Sporting Kansas City. They’ll return to Exposition Park on Saturday, May 31 to go up against the Colorado Rapids. Both matches are essentially sold out, although there were some scattered resale tickets available for Wednesday and Saturday night at last check.

Hamlet - Mark Taper Forum (May 28 - Jul. 6)
Director Robert O’Hara took inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch, Salvador Dali and Perry Mason for the interpretation of Hamlet that Center Theatre Group will premiere at the Mark Taper Forum on Wednesday, May 28. This adaptation of Shakespeare’s famed tragedy will run through July 6 with both evening and matinee performances.

Autry After Hours: Johnny Marfa and The Lights - The Autry (May 29)
Autry After Hours continues its month-long series of cowboy cocktails and music nights on Thursday, May 29 with Johnny Marfa and The Lights. The country group will be performing twice throughout the evening. In between sets, guests will learn line dancing from Mike’s Country Dancing. The event will also include an exclusive cocktail from Andre Darlington’s book Cowboy Cocktails. Doors open at 5:30pm and the museum’s galleries will be open during the event.

"Nightshift" - Philosophical Research Society (May 29)
On Thursday, May 29, 7th House Screenings and Women Under the Influence present Nightshift, Robina Rose’s avant garde depiction of early 1980s London. The film, which stars British punk figure Jordan, has been rarely screened since its 1981 release and was recently restored. Tickets at Eventbrite.

"The Sugarland Express" feat. Goldie Hawn - Academy Museum (May 29)
Goldie Hawn will stop by the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures on Thursday, May 29 for a conversation about her career prior to the screening of Steven Spielberg’s 1974 feature directorial debut The Sugarland Express, in which Hawn starred.

Dodgers vs. Yankees - Dodger Stadium (May 30 - Jun. 1)
It’s the Dodgers versus the Yankees all weekend at Chavez Ravine and tickets are running low, so act fast if you want to catch the Friday, Saturday or Sunday night games. Early Entry ticket packages are available for the game on Friday, May 30, which will allow entry to stadium three hours prior to the first pitch, giving fans the chance to watch the pre-game action on the field.

Son Rompe Pera - The Paramount (May 30-31)
Marimba-centric cumbia punk band Son Rompe Pera returns to Los Angeles for a two-night engagement at The Paramount in Boyle Heights. With a reputation for high-energy shows, the band has gained a devoted following. Catch them on Friday, May 30 or Saturday, May 31. Tickets to the all-ages shows at Dice.

TOKiMONSTA - El Rey (May 30)
On her latest album, Eternal Reverie, GRAMMY-nominated producer TOKiMONSTA seamlessly melds disco, house and hip-hop beats with a unique flair. Catch her live at the El Rey Theatre on Friday, May 30 or Saturday May 31 with support from Shima.

Bootsy Collins & Ice Cube - GRAMMY Museum (May 30)
Funk legend Bootsy Collins celebrates the release of his latest album, Album of the Year #1 Funkateer, at the GRAMMY Museum on Friday, May 30. He’ll be part of a conversation moderated by Ice Cube inside the Clive Davis Theater. The venue is fairly small, so it’s best to get tickets as soon as possible for this special night.

Blondshell - The Fonda (May 30)
Indie rock singer-songwriter Blondshell has been generating a lot of buzz since the release of full-length album, If You Asked for a Picture, earlier this month. Catch the LA-based musician live on Friday, May 30, at The Fonda. Tickets at AXS.

Outloud Music Festival - West Hollywood Park (May 31 - Jun. 1)
West Hollywood kicks off LGBTQ+ Pride month this weekend with the Outloud Music Festival. Lizzo and Kim Petras headline the Saturday, May 31 lineup, which also includes performances from Pabllo Vittar, Horse Meat Disco, The Knocks x Dragonette and more. On Sunday, June 1, Remi Wolf, Honey Dijon and Paris Hilton are at the top of a bill that also features Shygirl, Rebecca Black and others. Single day and weekend passes are both available.

Head in the Clouds - Brookside @ Rose Bowl Stadium (May 31)
Head in the Clouds, the music festival that centers Asian artists, takes place on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1 at Brookside at Rose Bowl Stadium. G-Dragon and 2NE1 headline the two-day event that also includes performances from Indonesian rapper Rich Brian, South Korean singer Dean, a DJ set from Porter Robinson and much more. VIP tickets have already sold out, but two-day general admission passes are still available.

Rigoletto - Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (May 31 - Jun. 21)
LA Opera brings Verdi’s famed tale of vengeance Rigoletto to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion with Quinn Kelsey in what has become the singer’s signature role. Opening night is Saturday, May 31 and Rigoletto will run through June 21 with both evening and matinee performances on the schedule.

Cinespia: Blue Velvet - Hollywood Forever (May 31)
Cinespia pays tribute to David Lynch on Saturday, May 31 when the outdoor movie series screens the late director’s cult favorite Blue Velvet at Hollywood Forever. Gates open at 6:45pm, the film starts at 8:30pm.

Day Trip in the Park - LA State Historic Park (June 1)
Ranger Trucco headlines the June 1 installment of Day Trip in the Park, featuring a lineup that also includes Luke Dean, Ms. Mada and Nate Katz for. The outdoor dance party at LA State Historic Park is a 21+ event and starts at 2pm. Tickets are on sale at Ticketweb, VIP table reservations are available.
