Coming Soon: The Best of LA June 2-8, 2025

From LA Pride to the Hollywood Bowl’s season opener and the Exotikon festival happening all weekend, the week of June 2 is going to be epic! American Cinematheque is hosting cult favorites with celebrity appearances; the Dodgers take on the Mets for Filipino Heritage Night and Angel City FC celebrates Pride Month on Saturday. Also on Saturday night, Cinespia screens Once Upon a Time in Hollywood at Hollywood Forever. Concerts happening this week include dub legend Scientist at Lodge Room and The Roots "Class of '95" at the Hollywood Bowl. Keep reading to find out what’s coming to LA between June 2 and June 8.

Rachel Chinouriri - The Fonda (June 2-3)
In April, British singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri dropped the EP Little House, a short and sweet follow-up to last year’s critically acclaimed debut full-length, What a Devastating Turn of Events, that includes the delightful bop “Can We Talk About Isaac?” Monday, June 2, is the first of two shows Chinouriri will headline at The Fonda. The Last American Virgin - Los Feliz Theatre (June 2)
Known for roles in 1980s films like Better Off Dead and Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Diane Franklin will be in attendance for Monday night’s screening of The Last American Virgin, which was her breakout film, at the Los Feliz Theatre. She’ll also be signing copies of her memoir Diane Franklin: The Excellent Curls of the Last American, French-Exchange Babe of the ‘80s at the screening, which is part of American Cinematheque’s “Bleak Week: Cinema of Despair.”

Missing & The Confession - The Egyptian (June 2)
American Cinematheque’s “Bleak Week: Cinema of Despair” offers exactly what the festival name implies with screenings at The Egyptian Theatre, Los Feliz 3 and The Aero from June 1 to 7. On Monday, June 2, head to The Egyptian for a double feature of Missing and The Confession, presented in collaboration with the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival, that will include a Q&A with director Costa-Gavras and producer Michèle Ray-Gavras.

Dodgers vs. Mets - Dodger Stadium (June 3)
It’s Filipino Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, June 3, when the Boys in Blue play the second game in this week’s series against the Mets. Expect live music and other performances in Centerfield Plaza, as well as a special menu celebrating Filipino heritage. Special package tickets with an exclusive jersey are available for this night.

The Minus 5 - Zebulon (June 3)
Alternative pop supergroup The Minus 5 - whose members include Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows), Peter Buck (REM) and Debbi Peterson (Bangles) - set out on a West Coast tour in June to celebrate the release of their new full-length Oar On, Penelope! They’ll play at Zebulon on Tuesday, June 3, with support from Vicki Peterson (Bangles) and John Cowsill (Cowsills), who will be performing music from their new album, Long After the Fire, as well as Bangles and Cowsills classics. Ministry - Hollywood Palladium (June 4)
For the Squirrely Years tour, Ministry will be performing songs from their 1983 debut album, With Sympathy, now considered a synthpop classic, as well as their 1986 follow-up Twitch, the album where the band began to turn towards an industrial sound. Opening the show are fellow industrial club mainstays My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult and Die Krupps. Tickets at Live Nation.

Scientist: In the Round - Lodge Room (June 4)
Recording engineer, producer and dub innovator Scientist heads to Los Angeles to perform in the round at Lodge Room on Wednesday, June 4. Don’t miss out on the chance to catch this genre icon live, where he’ll be joined by LA-based rapper and producer Yungmorpheus.

Leon Bridges & Charley Crockett - Hollywood Bowl (June 5)
The Crooner and the Cowboy Tour brings together fellow Texans Leon Bridges and Charley Crockett. Bridges is the GRAMMY-winning R&B singer who has charmed listeners with his classic ‘60s soul vibe. Meanwhile, Crockett fuses country and blues for his own distinctive style and recently released his 15th album and major label debut, Lonesome Drifter. Catch the two singers on Thursday, June 5 at the Hollywood Bowl.

Amplified: Music and the Mind - Natural History Museum (June 6)
June's theme for the Natural History Museum’s First Fridays series is Amplified: Music and the Mind. Susan Rogers, PhD, a neuroscientist and legendary music engineer (Prince’s Purple Rain, Around the World in a Day, Parade, Sign o' the Times) will discuss the subject in the Commons Theater with Dr. Yewande Pearse. Ha Vay and Nymphlord are scheduled to play live, while Glenn Red and Jen Rock will be your DJs. Look for a sound bath, drum circle and more activities in this evening event.

Happiness - The Egyptian (June 6)
American Cinematheque’s “Bleak Week: Cinema of Despair” festival continues on Friday night with a screening of Happiness, the 1998 Todd Solondz cult favorite with star Lara Flynn Boyle in the house for a Q&A session.

Seoul Festival - Walt Disney Concert Hall (June 6)
Friday, June 6, is one of four LA Phil Seoul Festival events happening June 3-10 and features three world premieres: Clockworks and Fireworks by Sunghyun Lee, H’on from Kay Kyurim Rhie and Viola Concerto Ko-Oh by Texu Kim. The concert will also include a performance of Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 by Sunwook Kim.

Exotikon 3 - Mayan Theatre (June 7-8)
The third annual Exotikon Music & Arts Festival is taking place at the historic Mayan Theatre in Downtown LA on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8. The celebration of mid-20th century art and culture brings together everything from tiki to psychedelia in one weekend. Saturday features a rare live performance from The Residents of their 1979 album, Eskimo!, as well as exotica masters Creepxotica. Sunday’s lineup includes the Satanic Puppeteer Orchestra, The Scimitars, Marty Lush and the Singapore Slingers, burlesque dancers and more.

Angel City FC vs. Chicago Stars FC - BMO Stadium (June 7)
Angel City FC hosts Pride Night at BMO Stadium on Saturday, June 7, when they face off against Chicago Stars FC. The day begins with a Fan Fest at 3pm, the match is scheduled to start at 7pm.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - Hollywood Forever (June 7)
Is there a better place to watch Once Upon a Time in Hollywood than at the iconic Hollywood Forever? That's exactly what you can do at Cinespia's screening of Quentin Tarantino’s alternate history on Saturday, June 7. Gates open at 7:15pm, the movie starts at 9pm.

Wedding Present - Lodge Room (June 7)
At last check, tickets were running low for The Wedding Present’s show at the Lodge Room on Saturday, June 7. The beloved British indie band is celebrating the 35th anniversary of their sophomore album, Bizarro. Welsh band The Tubs will be opening the night.

Hollywood Bowl Opening Night (June 7)
The Hollywood Bowl officially opens for its 2025 season on Saturday, June 7 with a concert featuring Hugh Jackman accompanied by the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by Thomas Wilkins and fireworks. VIP packages are available for this special event.

LA Pride (June 8)
The 55th annual LA Pride Parade takes place on June 8 at 11am! Join grand marshals Niecy Nash, Jessica Betts, Andrew Rannells and TrinoxAdam along the parade route, which runs on Hollywood Boulevard between Highland and Cahuenga. After the parade, head to the LA Pride Village, adjacent to the route, for the street fair with music and entertainment stages, two bars, vendors, food trucks and more.

A Roots Picnic Experience - Hollywood Bowl (June 8)
A Roots Picnic Experience returns to the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday, June 8. This year’s theme is "The Class of ’95,” featuring The Roots with DJ Quik, Havoc (Mobb Deep), Lil’ Kim, Raekwon, Redman and Method Man, Bones Thugs-N-Harmony and more.
