Each year, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) presents the Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibition, timed to coincide with the Oscars during Awards Season. Celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, the popular exhibition shines a spotlight on the art and industry of costume designers with a showcase of costumes from notable films of the past year.

“FIDM Museum exhibitions are our gift to students and the community," said FIDM Museum Director, Barbara Bundy. "Additionally, we want to acknowledge the generosity of all of our donors and supporters—past, present, and future—for their assistance in helping us to provide students, researchers, designers, and the public with resources to examine the role of historic fashion.”

More than 100 outstanding costume designs will be on display, including all of the Academy Award-nominated films for Best Costume Design. The free exhibition is open to the public and is on view through April 22, 2017.

This year's Academy Award nominees for Best Costume Design:

  • Allied – Joanna Johnston
