Most of this week’s events in Los Angeles will be concentrated on New Year’s Eve and Discover Los Angeles has a whole list of parties where you can spend the final night of 2024. In addition to those happenings, Morrissey and Mariachi El Bronx play Hollywood Palladium on December 31, while electro legend The Egyptian Lover headlines Zebulon’s New Year’s Eve Bash. Meanwhile, Level 8 offers an upscale, multi-room affair with everything from magicians to DJs. If you’re looking for a more retro vibe to ring in 2025, consider Gold-Diggers’ New Years Hop with DJs and live musicians playing classic rock and soul jams or Constellation Club’s soul-heavy soiree at Formosa Cafe.

Since New Year’s Eve falls on Tuesday, there will be less activity in L.A. for the first weekend of the year, but don’t expect the nightlife to grow quiet. Jeff Tweedy of Wilco concludes his residency at Largo with shows on January 2 and 3, both of which have sold out. Punk icons T.S.O.L. kickstart 2025 with a string of Southern California shows and will be headlining downtown’s Regent Theatre on Friday night. Popular party brand Space Yacht celebrates their first decade with the dubstep-heavy Big Bass Ting bash at Exchange on Friday night and house celebration Gates of Gold at Academy L.A. on Saturday. Meanwhile, there will be two tributes to the late singer-songwriter David Berman— one at Zebulon and one at 2220 Arts + Archives— to mark his birthday on January 4. For more of what’s happening in Los Angeles between Dec. 30, 2024 and Jan. 5, 2025, keep reading.
