Downtown Día de los Muertos - Gloria Molina Grand Park (Oct. 25)
Día de los Muertos at Gloria Molina Grand Park begins on Saturday, October 25, with a special opening day celebration from 11am to 4pm. This year’s event includes 19 altars from local artists and community groups that honor those who have passed and reflect the theme, Let Freedom Ring: Honoring Our Immigrant Ancestors.


"Shadow of the Vampire" - Philosophical Research Society (Oct. 23)
Throughout October, Philosophical Research Society’s film program, 7th House, presents interpretations of F.W. Murnau’s trailblazing film, Nosferatu. On October 23, PRS will screen Shadow of the Vampire, the 2000 horror film starring Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich. Director E. Elias Merighe will participate in a Q&A following the screening.

Complexions Contemporary Ballet - Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (Oct. 24-26)
The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion welcomes Complexions Contemporary Ballet for a weekend of performances from Friday to Sunday, October 24-26. The company will perform Retro Suite and For Crying Out Loud, the latter of which is set to the music of U2. Recommended for ages 8 and older.

"The Nightmare Before Christmas" - Hollywood Bowl (Oct. 25-26)
Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in concert celebrates 10 years since it first packed crowds into the Hollywood Bowl. John Mauceri will lead the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra as Danny Elfman, Janelle Monae, Keith David, Riki Lindhome and John Stamos bring the film’s beloved characters to life.

The Mad Worlds of the Fleischers and Buster Keaton - Mount Wilson Observatory (Oct. 25)
On October 25, Mount Wilson Observatory and Livonia Cinema present The Mad Worlds of the Fleischers and Buster Keaton, an afternoon of spooky and experimental silent films from Max and Dave Fleischer, the animators who became known for their Betty Boop and Popeye cartoons, and actor/director Buster Keaton. The films will be accompanied by Mark Herman on organ. Be sure to use the driving directions on the Mount Wilson website.

Indie rock legends Superchunk released their 13th album, Songs in the Key of Yikes, last August and they'll be touring the western U.S. in October. Catch them at Teragram Ballroom on Thursday, October 23, with support from Case Oats.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - The Wiltern (Oct. 23)
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club is celebrating the 20th anniversary of their third album, Howl. As the tour nears its conclusion, they’ll play The Wiltern on Thursday, October 23, with support from Humanist.

Viagra Boys - Shrine Expo Hall (Oct. 24)
Swedish punks Viagra Boys start their U.S. tour in late October and they’ll come through Los Angeles on Friday, October 24, for a date at the Shrine Expo Hall with openers Black Lips. Shows are selling out across the tour, so don't wait till the last minute to get your tickets!

Boz Scaggs - Walt Disney Concert Hall (Oct. 25)
Boz Scaggs, the GRAMMY-winning funky legend whose 1976 hit “Lowdown” continues to pack dance floors, performs at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Saturday, October 25.

The Dare - The Fonda (Oct. 25)
Couldn’t get tickets to see The Dare at The Fonda on October 24? You're in luck, because tickets are still available to see New York’s indie sleaze revivalist on Saturday, October 25.


Joe Bataan & Quetzal: Labor of Love - The Ford (Oct. 25)
Taking place at The Ford on Saturday, October 25, the Labor of Love concert brings together the “King of Latin Soul,” Joe Bataan; the long-running, GRAMMY-winning Chicano rock band Quetzal and poet Faith Santilla.

Morrissey & Social Distortion - Intuit Dome (Oct. 25)
Morrissey returns to Los Angeles on October 25 and he’ll be joined by Southern California punk icons Social Distortion for this special Saturday night concert at Intuit Dome.

The Witcher in Concert - The Wiltern (Oct. 26)
The Witcher in Concert celebrates the 10th anniversary of the blockbuster video game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with an orchestral performance of the score. The global tour stops at The Wiltern on Sunday, October 26.

Ghoulish Glimpses 2025 - Philosophical Research Society (Oct. 25)
Heather Henson’s Handmade Puppet Dreams and the LA Guild of Puppetry join forces for Ghoulish Glimpses 2025: Haunted Puppetry on Stage and Screen, a special night at Philosophical Research Society filled with short films and puppets. In addition to film screenings, there will be live puppetry performance installations throughout the PRS campus at this all-ages event. Children ages 10 and under can attend for free.



Nightlife
Slum Village - Blue Note (Oct. 20)
Influential Detroit hip-hop outfit Slum Village stops by Blue Note Los Angeles on Monday, October 20 for performances at 7pm and 9:30pm.

Belle, Book & Candle: Resurrection - El Cid (Oct. 21)
Pleasant Gehman and Shana Leilani’s occult burlesque event Belle, Book & Candle returns to El Cid on Tuesday, October 21. Performances from Devilla, Lena Fumi, Lily Misfit, Lola La Minx, Daphne Moon and Princess Farhana; and a special ritual from Intuitive Shana and a raffle with prizes courtesy of The Green Man and Pan’s Apothika. This is an 18+ event and VIP tickets are available.

KQBH Takeover - The Paramount (Oct. 22)
Boyle Heights community radio station KQBH 101.5 FM takes over The Paramount on Wednesday, October 22, for an all-ages Halloween party. There will be a costume contest, so dress to impress!

Nina Kraviz - The Theatre (Oct. 24)
Having recently taken over The Theatre, the century-old auditorium inside the historic Trinity Building, Stranger Than brings Russian DJ/producer Nina Kraviz back to Los Angeles for a 21+ techno blowout that will run until 3am.

Jayda G - Sound (Oct. 24)
Jayda G, the house star known for remixing the likes of Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift, plays Sound on Friday, October 24. She’ll be joined by LA-based Chica. Table reservations are available for this 21+ night.

Kaytranada x Justice - Kia Forum (Oct. 24-25)
Canadian electronic music superstar Kaytranada and French house favorites Justice have joined forces for their current co-headlining tour, which hits Kia Forum on Friday and Saturday, October 24-25.

Bob Baker Marionette Theater Hallowe’en Costume Ball (Oct. 25)
On Saturday, October 25, the Bob Baker Marionette Theater presents the third annual Hallowe’en Costume Ball, a special 21+ fundraiser for the local institution. Norwegian disco diva Ora the Molecule will perform live and Estelle of Roadkill Jamboree will judge the costume contest.

LA Lakers vs. Golden State Warriors - Crypto.com Arena (Oct. 21)
After two pre-season games against the Golden State Warriors, the Los Angeles Lakers take on their cross-state rivals for their first game of the regular season on Tuesday, October 21. Tipoff at Crypto.com Arena is at 7pm. Later that week, the Lakers will host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, October 24.

LA Chargers vs. Minnesota Vikings - SoFi Stadium (Oct. 23)
On October 23, the Los Angeles Chargers go up against the Minnesota Vikings at SoFi Stadium. Kickoff for this Thursday Night Football game is at 5:15pm.


LA Clippers vs. Phoenix Suns - Intuit Dome (Oct. 24)
The Los Angeles Clippers home opener is Friday, October 24, when the team takes on the Phoenix Suns at Intuit Dome. Tipoff is at 7:30pm and there’s a t-shirt giveaway for the first 10,000 fans. This is the first of two home games for the Clippers this week - they’ll play the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, October 26.

"Jaja’s African Hair Braiding" - Mark Taper Forum (Oct. 21-26)
Jaja’s African Hair Braiding, the Tony-winning comedy set in a Harlem salon, comes to Los Angeles for a month-long run with Center Theatre Group at Mark Taper Forum. Written by Jocelyn Bioh and directed by Whitney White, the play will continue through November 9 with evening and matinee performances.

"The Little King of Norwalk" - Latino Theater Co. (Oct. 23-26)
A tribute to Chicano identity in its many forms, The Little King of Norwalk blends satire, a touch of magical realism, and a nod to Gogol’s The Inspector General. Commissioned by Latino Theater Company and developed through its Circle of Imaginistas playwriting group, this world premiere is a modern barrio fable about power, politics and the price of survival.
