Reel to Reel: The Opener - Grammy Museum (April 27)
The Grammy Museum screens 2024 documentary The Opener, about singer-songwriter Philip Labes, whose livestream performance landed him a spot opening for Jason Mraz, on Monday, April 27. Labes and Mraz will also perform an acoustic set at the event. 

The Color of Pomegranates - Philosophical Research Society (May 1)
Sergei Parajanov’s 1969 film The Color of Pomegranates, a landmark of Soviet cinema inspired by the life of 18th century Armenian poet Sayat-Nova, screens at Philosophical Research Society on Friday, May 1. 

First Fridays - Natural History Museum (May 1)
“Life at the Cosmic Scale” is the subject for the May 1 talk at Natural History Museum’s First Fridays. As for the music, listen for vinyl DJ sets from Rani de Leon, DJ Gio and El Marchante and live performances from D33J and John Glacier. 

Jazz at LACMA: Michelle Coltrane Celebrates the Coltrane Centennial - LACMA (May 1)
Jazz at LACMA launches its 35th season on Friday, May 1, with a special performance from vocalist and composer Michelle Coltrane celebrating the centennial of John Coltrane. 

Night at the Library: A Century of Light - Central Library (May 2)
Bob Baker Marionette Theater, Dublab DJs, Los Angeles Master Chorale and more are amongst the participants for Los Angeles Public Library’s centennial celebration, happening at DTLA’s Richard J. Riordan Central Library on Saturday, May 2. The night will also include screenprinting with Color Compton, silent films, tarot readings and much more. 

Carrie 50th Anniversary Screening - Heritage Square Museum (May 2)
Street Food Cinema celebrates Half-o-Ween on Saturday, May 2, with a 50th anniversary screening of Carrie at Heritage Square Museum. The 21+ event also includes Oddities Bazaar, photo ops, bars and bites. Plus, you can tour the Victorian homes on site prior to the 8:30 p.m. screening.

Award-winning performer Toki the Japanese Elvis brings his tribute to the King to Los Angeles on Thursday, April 30, where he’ll be headlining The Mint. 

Chet Faker - The Novo (April 30)
On tour in support of new album A Love For Strangers, Chet Faker stops by The Novo on Thursday, April 30. 

Beach Life Festival - Redondo Beach (May 1 - 3)
Beach Life Festival returns to Redondo Beach for this first weekend of May with three days of fun in the sun, featuring performances from Duran Duran, Chainsmokers, Offspring, Slightly Stoopid, James Taylor, My Morning Jacket, Sheryl Crow, Joan Jett and the Blackhears, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals and so many more. 


Depresión Sonora - The Vermont (May 1)
Madrid’s Depresión Sonora brings his brand of post-punk to The Vermont on Friday, May 1, with support from GVLLOW, 60 Juno and Goth Tio. 

ADULT. - The Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever (May 1)
With their 10th full-length album, Kissing Luck Goodbye, out now, Detroit duo ADULT. are on the road and bringing their synth-punk energy to the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever on Friday, May 1.  

Jackie Mendez - La Cita (May 1)
Local soul and rocksteady singer Jackie Mendez celebrates the release of her new album on stage at La Cita with The Escapers and DJ Adrian Villalobos on Friday, May 1. 


Lewis Capaldi - Hollywood Bowl (May 2)
Grammy-nominated and Brit Award-winning Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi brings his current North American tour to Hollywood Bowl on Saturday, May 2. Joy Crookes opens the night.

Rube Goldberg Family STEM Event - Qualia School for Deeper Learning (May 2)
Zach Umperovitch, aka Zach’s Contraptions, has earned multiple Guinness world records for his creations and, on Saturday, May 2, he’ll be at Calabasas’ Qualia School for Deeper Learning to build Rube Goldberg’s alongside folks of all experience levels. This family-friendly STEM event is open to the public and all the materials you’ll need to participate will be provided. Register in advance to attend. 

Very Special Arts Festival - The Music Center (May 2)
“United and Inspired” is the theme for this year’s Very Special Arts Festival, which features performances, workshops and exhibitions for student artists of all abilities and grade levels. The festival takes place in the Jerry Moss Plaza at The Music Center on Saturday, May 2, from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

NextGenLA Celebration - LACMA (May 3)
LACMA continues its opening celebrations of the David Geffen Galleries with a special day of programming for its youngest members. Participants in NextGenLA, the free membership program for Los Angeles County youth, will be  amongst the galleries’ first visitors on Sunday, May 3, in an event that will also include live performances, face-painting and family portrait opportunities. Reserve your tickets in advance.

Punk-influenced art-rock project Dagger Polyester brings “miniature musical” cabaret show Paradise Motel to the stage at Zebulon for one night only on Tuesday, April 28. 


DJ Habibeats - Shrine Expo Hall (May 1)
DJ Habibeats brings his mix of Middle Eastern, Latin, house, hip-hop and more to Shrine Expo Hall on Friday, May 1. 

Disco Lines - Exposition Park (May 2)
Disco Lines, the DJ producer known for club hits like “Baby Girl,” headlines Exposition Park’s South Lawn on Saturday, May 2. Also on the bill are TOBEHONEST and Maesic, who will play a back-to-back set, and Wes Mills. 

Miss Rita’s Lucha VaVoom - The Regent (May 3)
Miss Rita’s Lucha VaVoom throws a Cinco de Mayo Spectacular on May 3, at The Regent. Expect lucha libre, burlesque performances and plenty of surprises in this Sunday night extravaganza. Cain Culto is the event’s musical guest.

Dodgers vs. Marlins - Dodger Stadium (April 27 - 29)
It’s Japanese Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium on Monday, April 27, when the boys in blue play the first in a three-game series against the Marlins. The series continues  with games on Tuesday, April 28, which is also Women’s Night at the stadium, and Wednesday, April 29. 

Angel City FC vs. Utah Royals FC - BMO Stadium (May 2)
Angel City FC plays the first of their four home games this May on Saturday, May 2, at BMO Stadium. They’ll take on Utah Royals FC for the 5:45 p.m. match. 

LA Galaxy vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC - Dignity Health Sports Park (May 2)
The Galaxy plays the first of two home games scheduled for this May when they go up against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, May 2.

Hell in a Handbasket - REDCAT (May 1 - 2)
Jibz Cameron celebrates the release of her memoir Hell in a Handbasket with performances at REDCAT on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, that bring together performance art, film and readings. In this world premiere presentation, both Cameron and her alter ego Dynasty Handbag will appear on stage. 

Exit the King - A Noise Within (May 3 - 31)
A Noise Within’s production of Eugène Ionesco’s comedy Exit the King begins its run on Sunday, May 3, with performances continuing through the month.
