The Guide to LA Fleet Week at the LA Waterfront (May 27-30)

LA Fleet Week® is an annual, multi-day celebration of our nation’s Sea Services held on the LA Waterfront at the Port of Los Angeles. Taking place over the extended Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-30) and free to the public, the event features public ship tours, live entertainment, military displays, aircraft flyovers, kids’ STEM Expo, and Galley Wars culinary cook-off competition between Sailor, Marine & Coastguard teams.
Ship Tours
During LA Fleet Week, the public is invited to take FREE ship tours. Walk-up visitors are able to take tours on a first-come, first-served basis. Visiting ships this year include the USS Essex LHD-2 and USS Portland LPD-27.
- Wear comfortable, rubber-soled, closed-toe shoes and clothing appropriate for touring a military vessel.
- Ships are not ADA equipped. Guests must be physically able to walk through tight spaces and up/down steep ladders. Special pier-side tours will be available for visitors with disabilities on the half-hour - tickets are not needed for these tours.
- Minimum age for ship tours is 5 years old.
- Visitors will be subject to an airport-style search at the event. You will need to show government-issued ID.
- National origin information will be collected for each person going aboard a vessel, regardless of age.
NOTE: Battleship IOWA tours are separate and require admission. Tickets are on sale at the Battleship IOWA website.
