A Note from Ernie - May 2019

Ernest Wooden Jr.

Dear Friends,

The Los Angeles Tourism team is gearing up for U.S. Travel’s IPW, the industry’s leading international inbound travel trade show, right down the road in Anaheim the first week of June. We’ll be meeting face-to-face with a bevy of travel professionals and media from more than 70 countries to promote the destination’s newest visitor offerings and products while building important relationships.

If you’ve been craving a delectable burger, look no further than the dineL.A. Burger Trek which launched this month. Celebrating the city’s diverse burger scene, the Burger Trek highlights the must-eat options at 32 established neighborhood spots across the destination. Online guides are available for download on dineL.A.’s Burger Trek website at dineLABurgerTrek.com.

TOT collections continue to be a significant revenue stream for the City of Los Angeles. I’m pleased to share that collections for March 2019 totaled $28.3 million, bringing our fiscal year total to $236 million. This figure is 8.3% higher than the same time last year and in line with the adopted budget.

These are just a few of the many updates on our industry that we’re sharing with you in May’s newsletter. As always, we will continue to work diligently on behalf of all of our members to keep the world coming to Los Angeles.

Best wishes,

Ernest Wooden Jr.
President and CEO
Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board
