LOS ANGELES TOURISM CELEBRATES DODGERS’ VICTORY, MARKING ANOTHER MILESTONE IN THE WORLD’S PREMIER SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT DESTINATION

Win comes as LA continues extraordinary run of world-class sporting events through 2028

LOS ANGELES (October 31, 2024) — The Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (Los Angeles Tourism) proudly congratulates the Los Angeles Dodgers on winning the 2024 World Series. The incredible accomplishment brings home the championship title and showcases the vibrancy, strength and talent that underscore LA’s position as the world’s sports and entertainment capital.

“This World Series victory fills Angelenos with immense civic pride and showcases what makes LA extraordinary,” said Adam Burke, President & CEO, Los Angeles Tourism. "As home to 11 professional sports teams—more than any other U.S. destination—and with the Dodgers' impressive championship run, LA continues to prove why we're the world's premier destination for sports fans. This win celebrates not just our team, but our entire LA community and the millions of visitors who share our passion for Los Angeles."

The Dodgers’ post-season World Series win comes after a record-breaking 2024 season, drawing fans and visitors from around the globe. Players like Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto inspired a wave of international attention, especially from Japan. This year, Japan is slated to become LA’s fifth-largest source market of overseas visitors, with an estimated total of 320,000 Japanese visitors. During this year’s Major League Baseball (MLB) season, many Japanese visitors were drawn to the City of Angels by the love of baseball and the legacy of the Dodgers’ iconic lineup.

MLB announced that its 2025 regular season will begin with the Tokyo Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs on March 18 and 19. Both teams feature native Japanese players and will mark the sixth time that MLB opens its regular season in Tokyo.

As the United States’ second-largest gateway, Los Angeles maintains its status as a destination where champions play. With major upcoming events like NBA All-Star ‘26, eight FIFA World Cup 2026 matches, Super Bowl LXI in 2027 and the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games, Los Angeles shines as a premier destination that seamlessly blends sports, entertainment and culture, offering experiences as diverse as its community.
