“In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened!” That was the call from Hall of Fame announcer Vin Scully after Kirk Gibson homered in the bottom of the ninth to give the Los Angeles Dodgers a 5-4 victory over the Oakland Athletics in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series. The home run is not only the greatest moment in Dodger Stadium history, it's widely regarded as the greatest sports moment in L.A. history.

As part of the team's celebration of 60 seasons in Los Angeles, the Dodgers will pay tribute to Gibson's legendary walk-off home run by permanently marking a commemorative seat in the area of the Right Field Pavilion where the ball landed. The "Kirk Gibson Home Run Seat" is the first seat at Dodger Stadium to be marked in tribute to a historic event.

Section 302, Row D, Seat 1 in the Right Field Pavilion is painted blue and adorned with Gibson's painted signature, as well as a historical marker. Tickets for the Kirk Gibson seat and a companion seat must be purchased as a pair at Dodgers.com/Gibson and are priced at $300. The purchase price includes two commemorative t-shirts and food and drink in the Coca-Cola All-Inclusive Right Field Pavilion. $200 of the $300 purchase price will be donated to the Kirk Gibson Foundation to raise money and awareness for Parkinson's Research.

"Kirk Gibson was part of one of the greatest moments in Dodger history, and we're thrilled to partner with Kirk to help him and his foundation raise funds and awareness in fighting Parkinson's Disease," said Executive Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer Lon Rosen.

The Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) will partner with the Kirk Gibson Foundation in fundraising efforts during the opening week of the 2018 season, including the donation of the proceeds of the Opening Day LADF 50-50 Raffle and a silent auction.

Gibson will be in attendance and will throw the ceremonial first pitch on Opening Day (Thursday, March 29, at 4:08 p.m. vs. the San Francisco Giants) as the Dodgers recognize the 30th anniversary of the 1988 championship team. The celebration will continue during the second game of the season (Friday, March 30), when the Dodgers will give away a Kirk Gibson special edition bobblehead to the first 40,000 ticketed fans in attendance. LADF will also hold an online auction from April 9-30 for 88 limited edition, Gibson-autographed bobbleheads and the Dodgers' game-worn jerseys from the Friday, March 30 game, with proceeds benefiting the Kirk Gibson Foundation.

In addition to the Gibson seat, the Dodgers will offer a new Field Level seating option available for the 2018 season with the Field Drink Rail Seats, which will include a table top and barstool seating at the top row of sections 1-13. Tickets can be purchased at Dodgers.com by selecting Field Drink Rail Seats among the seating options. The view from these seats may be restricted at times by fans in front of the seats.
