Go Green in the Valley at the Hilton Woodland Hills/Los Angeles
Sleek, sophisticated and sustainable
Whether you’re at home or traveling for work, you’re committed to doing your part to help protect the environment. The reason is simple. You love the outdoors and know that protecting the Earth’s beauty and ensuring the safety of the planet for future generations, begins with personal responsibility. So, when looking for lodging, you lean towards hotels that embrace sustainable practices. That’s why the Hilton Woodland Hills/Los Angeles is such a great choice in greater Los Angeles.
As you pull up to the hotel in your hybrid rental, you're delighted to see that you're surrounded by mountains that are ready for exploring, and the immediate area is incredibly walkable. Noting the towering palm trees welcoming you to the hotel, you smile as you know that you’re not sacrificing sophistication or comfort for sustainability.
The posh lobby looks like it could be the living room of your favorite celebrity. With modern, sleek furnishings in light grays and silvers along with bold pops of pink, intriguing artwork, and contemporary furnishings, the overall aesthetic is truly luxurious and invigorating.
You’re greeted with a warm welcome by the desk agent, who points out some of the many amenities and perks of staying at the Hilton Woodland Hills/Los Angeles. She confirms that you're less than a mile from some of the best shopping in the San Fernando Valley at Westfield Topanga & The Village. You’re also just a couple of blocks from the Metro Orange Line, which connects you to North Hollywood and the Metro Red Line to Universal City, Hollywood, and Downtown L.A.
Within six blocks of the hotel you can walk to more than 40 restaurants. However, for dinner she encourages you to try the onsite Runway restaurant, which has been named a Surfrider Foundation Ocean Friendly Restaurant. Runway serves farm-to-table cuisine and offers vegan and vegetarian menus, with a concentration on local, sustainable companies and vendors. Moreover, Runway boasts its own herb garden, and serves cage free eggs. The eco-friendly design includes menus printed on seed paper, windows for natural light, LED and smart lights, and marble tabletops (no linens = no laundry).
In the meantime, if you’re ready for a snack, the onsite Market Express is at your disposal 24-hours, and is stocked with classic snacks, Starbucks coffee, kombucha, and sandwiches.
On the third floor, you’ll find the Fitness Center by Precor, which includes plenty of cardio machines, weights, and everything else you need to get in a great workout. To enjoy the gorgeous outdoors while getting in your steps, head to the 5,600-acre Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve, which is just over four miles away on the western edge of the Valley. Another option is Topanga State Park, which is tucked in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area about a 20-minute drive from the hotel.
Your King Bed Corner Room continues the luxury-meets-sustainable vibe, and you couldn’t be happier about it. Gorgeous views of the mountains greet you as soon as you open the door, which is a pretty juxtaposition to the warm gray and crisp white motif. It’s modern but homey, complete with a comfy seating area inside the 465+ square-foot room.
As you flop down you take time to appreciate that the signature Hilton Serenity™ bed collection— complete with allergen-free down comforter and pillows—is as comfortable as it gets. There is also a large safe for your laptop, a refrigerator, coffeemaker, a 50” flatscreen television, large workstation with ergonomic chair, and plenty of USB ports/charging stations for your devices. The free Wi-Fi is fast.
You’re happy to see signs of the hotel’s focus on sustainability everywhere. You note the in-room “Green Tip of the Day,” the sensor lights, the recycling wastebaskets and see that Hilton Woodland Hills/Los Angeles also participates in the recycle soap program. In your bathroom, you have a lovely backlit mirror, separate shower and tub, Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries, and a low-flow toilet.
Your room is perfect, but so is the day. After a quick search online, you score free tickets to The Getty Villa, where you plan to stroll the gorgeous gardens, take in the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, peruse the celebrated art collection, and admire the dazzling architecture. As an added bonus, you’ll drive through scenic Topanga Canyon, and may even pick out some hiking spots for the coming days.
By early evening you’re ready for an herb-infused cocktail and a delicious vegetarian meal at Runway. The service is impeccable - the Green Runway (Hendrick's Gin with fresh mint from the garden) and Sweet Corn Ravioli are incredibly tasty. By the time you return to your room, curl up in your King bed, and turn to HBO to catch up on your show, you can rest easy knowing that here at the Hilton Woodland Hills, you can keep your personal commitment to sustainability, while still feeling totally spoiled.
