A Note from TMD Chairman, Javier Cano - Summer 2017

Frieze Los Angeles 2024
Dear Friends,On behalf of the Los Angeles Tourism Marketing District Board of Directors, I would like to share with you several key highlights from our most recent Board meeting. Our TMD hotels continue to perform well, outpacing the top 25 U.S. cities for the first six months of 2017. Not only does this translate into healthy revenues for the hotels, but it ensures continued funding for L.A. Tourism’s aggressive marketing and sales initiatives on behalf of the TMD.  As fiscal stewards of the TMD, the Board annually conducts financial audits, and we are pleased to report that the recently conducted audit was very positive. The TMD Board of Directors will be meeting in October to approve the CY 2018 program of work that will be presented by the L.A. Tourism’s Executive Staff.  At our recent TMD Regional meetings in June, many of you contributed feedback that will be incorporated into next year’s plans. As you have heard me say many times before, this is your Tourism Marketing District; we welcome and openly encourage your ideas. Please feel free to contact me directly or reach out to Patti MacJennett, Senior Vice President of Business Affairs at L.A. Tourism with your thoughts on next year’s programming. The L.A. Tourism team and myself look forward to seeing you all in December for the TMD Hotel Regional Meetings, where we will be presenting the approved program of work.Regards,Javier CanoTMD Chairman *Note: The TMD Board of Directors is comprised of twelve members:  Nine members represent lodging businesses paying the TMD from the major regions of the City of Los Angeles and three members represent non-lodging businesses who have an interest in tourism in Los Angeles
