Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (JACCC)

This February, JACCC welcomes Casa Kyoto: Craft & Design Forum, a rare and unprecedented gathering of master artisans from Kyoto, Japan, many visiting the United States for the very first time. For two weekends (February 7-8 and February 14-15), sixteen makers representing both centuries-old studios and contemporary ateliers will come together on JACCC’s campus, offering an intimate look into Kyoto’s living craft traditions shaped by over 1,300 years of artistry, devotion, and precision.

Explore an extraordinary range of handcrafted works available for purchase, from Buddhist ritual objects and prayer beads to Nishijin-ori textiles, architectural tools, furniture, metalwork, glass, and culinary goods. Visitors can engage directly with artisans through hands-on workshops and cultural experiences spanning tea ceremony and Kyoto etiquette; prayer bead making; Buddhist bell casting; gold leaf techniques; stained glass; hinoki woodworking; knife sharpening and traditional wood planing; incense and cedar fragrance blending; sound meditation; and tastings of Kyoto.

Join us to experience Kyoto in Little Tokyo. Meet the makers, shop exceptional works, and take part in workshops available only during Casa Kyoto: Craft & Design Forum.

This year, we’re pleased to offer a special deal. Purchase tickets to three or more Casa Kyoto workshops and enjoy an automatic 10% discount on your order.
