Grammy-Nominated Poet aja monet at Burbank Public Library

Burbank Public Library proudly presents an evening with poet and activist aja monet on Tuesday, July 1, in celebration of her new book, Florida Water.

If you’re a fan of Danez Smith, Elizabeth Acevedo, June Jordan, or The Last Poets, this is for you. And if poetry has ever felt difficult or obscure, aja might surprise you. Her work is clear, moving, full of life—spoken word that invites you in and stays with you.

After sharing poems from Florida Water, aja will be joined in conversation by Vanessa Angélica Villarreal, a National Book Award and National Book Critics Circle nominee. We’re also lucky to have a special introduction from poet Luivette Resto, President of Beyond Baroque’s Board of Trustees.
