PASADENA PRO MUSICA PRESENTS "CONSIDERING MATTHEW SHEPARD"

This evocative and compassionate choral work was composed in response to the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard, a young gay man in Wyoming. Johnson’s three-part fusion oratorio seamlessly weaves together a variety of musical styles, poetic texts, and passages from Matthew’s own personal journals, as well as interviews and writings by his family. The result is powerfully cathartic music that is as heart- rending as it is hopeful. Pasadena Pro Musica is proud to continue spreading the music’s message of compassion and understanding.

Pasadena Pro Musica’s final concert of the season will also be a collaboration with the choir of the First Methodist Church of Pasadena, who are generously hosting the performance in their beautiful sanctuary in downtown Pasadena. It’s a large and lovely space, so there’s room for all. We can't wait to sing for you!
