All-Beethoven Concert – Robert Thies, piano

$45 (Children under 16 are free)    |  Nov 1, 2024  |  8:00PM - 10:00PM

Hailed by the Los Angeles Times as a pianist of “unerring, warm-toned refinement, revealing judicious glimmers of power,” Robert Thies joins us as we spend an evening with the music of Beethoven. Thies first captured worldwide attention in 1995 when he won the Gold Medal at the Second International Prokofiev Competition in St. Petersburg, Russia, thus becoming the only American pianist to win first prize in a Russian piano competition since Van Cliburn’s famed triumph in Moscow in 1958.

The concert opens with Beethoven’s lively Creatures of Prometheus Overture, followed by what many consider to be the finest of all symphonies, the monumental Symphony No. 5. Mr. Thies joins the orchestra for Beethoven’s passionate Third Piano Concerto.

Gala Supper on the patio for subscribers at the Silver Patron level and above prior to the concert.
