Pathmaker Awards Gala
LA non-profit EmpowHer Institute is hosting its 11th-annual PATHMAKER Awards Gala. Being held at Taglyan Complex, (1201 North Vine St.) on Thursday, October 10, the fundraiser directly supports 1,000 girl, teen and women beneficiaries across local and underserved communities.
This year’s masquerade-themed festivities are hosted by actress Vanessa Estelle Williams and feature a live musical performance and auction, as well as the delivery of this year’s Betty LaMarr PATHMAKER Awards. Named after the organization’s founder, the recognition honors three women breaking ceilings through their achievements, leadership, and efforts to empower girls and women everywhere. The 2024 class includes Emmy-winning journalist and author Jemele Hill, actor and host Kiki Shepard, and Corporate Philanthropy Advisor for Southern California Edison, Veronica Vazquez.
All proceeds and donations from the gala directly benefit EmpowHer Institute’s diverse curriculum, including its social justice STEAM camp. As part of this immersive program, participants learn from marine biologists while also becoming scuba- and sailing-certified.
