Now in its second year, Drag Yourself to the Valley is taking place at The Garland Ballroom on Thursday, June 1. Billy Francesca hosts a fabulous evening with fierce performances by RuPaul's Drag Race Queens Detox and Alyssa Edwards. The cast includes Butter McGhee, Miami Knight, Lolita Colby, Kyra Jeté with Kenny, Dax, Emerson, Michael Silas and DJ Patrick Kuzara.

Doors open at 7pm with cocktails flowing as soon as you arrive. Show starts at 8pm and there isn't a bad seat in the house.

Presented by Glamazon, the Venice Pride Block Party is a FREE, inclusive celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, taking place at 99 Windward Ave. near the iconic Venice Sign from 5-11pm on Friday, June 2. The Block Party features DJ Victor Rodriguez, a diverse array of community booths, LGBTQ+ vendors, food trucks and a few surprises. Special Pride Month edition of Gaywatch to follow at Baja Cantina from 10pm to 2am.

The annual An Evening Among the Roses is a celebration of the LGBTQ+ members of the community and their many contributions to The Huntington Library. Taking place on Friday, June 2 in the beautiful Rose Garden, this one-night-only party includes music, specialty cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and dancing under the stars. Fanciful garden party attire encouraged!

The flagship music festival and concert experience of WeHo Pride, OUTLOUD @ WeHo Pride features Grace Jones, Orville Peck, Santigold, Carly Rae Jepsen, and dozens more. OUTLOUD will take place on Friday, June 2 through Sunday, June 4 at West Hollywood Park with a star-studded, high-energy line-up celebrating and advocating for queer voices in music. Located at The Bloc in Downtown LA, the DTLA Proud A+R=T Community Center focuses on "Accessibility and Representation in order to help our community Thrive!" The Center features an art gallery, queer marketplace, community room and co-working space; and offers all-ages programing, workshops, pop-up retail space and event venue opportunities.

To celebrate Pride Month, DTLA Proud and The Bloc present an Artisan Market every Saturday in June to support LGBTQ+ small business owners. Shop local handmade items from jewelry to pottery, art and more: June 3, June 10, June 17 and June 24.

Inspired by Walt Disney's Pinocchio (1940), the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures presents Puppets and Pride! family workshops on June 3, 10 and 17. The Saturday afternoon workshops will focus on stories of love, belonging, and finding your place in the world. Create original storyboards and characters that tell your story! Stop by anytime from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in the Shirley Temple Education Studio on the museum’s Lower Level.

Following each workshop, the beloved Bob Baker Marionette Theater will perform from 2:30pm to 3:30pm in the Sidney Poitier Grand Lobby. The show will celebrate love, self-acceptance and community through a musical marionette lineup of proud puppets performing medleys from LGBTQ+ icons, queer history and more.

The longest-running cult movie of all time, The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) stars Tim Curry as the “transsexual from Transylvania” Dr. Frank N. Furter; Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as his hapless guests Brad and Janet; Meat Loaf as motorcycle-riding rough trade; and author Richard O’Brien as the hunchbacked butler Riff Raff.

The Landmark Nuart Theatre in West LA began screening The Rocky Horror Picture Show on a regular basis in 1976 and launched weekly Saturday night screenings in September 1986. Featuring Shadow Cast performances by Sins O’ The Flesh, Rocky Horror screens on June 3, 10, 17 and 24. Doors at 11pm, movie starts at midnight.

Get festive as the WeHo Pride Parade rolls down Santa Monica Boulevard on Sunday, June 4! The WeHo Pride Parade is an imaginative and colorful annual tradition that embraces LGBTQ+ representation, inclusion, and progress. Full of music, dancing, colorful floats, festive marching contingents, and creative flair, the Parade celebrates LGBTQ+ people and our contributions to community and culture. The Parade is a lively, energetic experience with good cheer and great vibes, and a whole lot of rainbows! Whether you participate in the Parade or join in the fun as a spectator, there’s something for everyone at the WeHo Pride Parade.

Located on the rooftop adjacent to the patio at E.P. & L.P., the Melrose Rooftop Theatre (MRT) offers an unforgettable outdoor cinema experience with the Hollywood Hills as the stunning backdrop. MRT features a state-of-the-art Da Lite 16’ x 9’ screen, wireless headphones, classic concessions, and bean bag seats.

Pride Month screenings include: The Birdcage (June 5), Brokeback Mountain (June 12), Philadelphia (June 19) and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (June 26).

Tropicana Movie Nights returns to the landmark Hollywood Roosevelt! Screening at the famed David Hockney pool, the series features movies filmed in LA, inspired by themes like "Classic American Action," "Modern LA Noir" and "Adult Comedies."

On Tuesday, June 6, the Roosevelt presents Rocketman (2019) as part of its month-long "Love is Love is Love" celebration. Directed by Dexter Fletcher, Rocketman tells the story of Sir Elton John (played by Taron Egerton) through his most beloved songs, from his early days as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music to his music partnership with singer-songwriter Bernie Taupin and rise to global superstardom.

John and Taupin won the Best Original Song Oscar and Golden Globe for "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again"; and Egerton won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.

Advance tickets at Eventbrite are required. Two people can comfortably lay back on a double bed to watch the movie, or seat up to four people. Doors open at 7pm, movie starts at 8:30pm. A hidden gem in Los Feliz, the Philosophical Research Society is celebrating Pride Month with numerous events, including: A Conversation with Guinevere Turner + Book Signing (June 6), Upstairs Inferno (June 14), The Other Side: A Queer History's Last Call (June 22), Framing Agnes (June 29) and The Girl Can't Help It (June 30). Outfest and American Cinematheque present Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Teorema (1968), screening at the Los Feliz Theatre on Tuesday, June 6.

Terence Stamp stars as a mysterious stranger—perhaps an angel, perhaps a devil—who seduces every member of a wealthy Milanese family (including European cinema icons Silvana Mangano, Massimo Girotti, Laura Betti and Anne Wiazemsky), precipitating an existential crisis in each of their lives.

Blocked from exhibition by the Catholic Church for degeneracy, Teorema ("Theorem") is described by AC as "at once a blistering Marxist treatise on sex, religion, and art and a primal scream into the void." Teorema will be introduced by Outfest director of programming Mike Dougherty.

The LA Pride Salon Series presents Queering the Lens, taking place from 6-9pm at the Getty Center on Wednesday, June 7.

The evening begins at 6pm with a one-hour conversation with three Los Angeles-based photographers—Rick Castro, Amina Cruz, and Texas Isaiah—creating powerful artwork that spotlights and celebrates under-represented LGBTQ+ communities. The trio will discuss the varied subcultures and personal relationships explored in their work and reflect on how these subjects have forged their art practice.

Following the talk, join an LA Pride celebration in the courtyard - view the exhibition Tim Walker: Wonderful Things, enjoy complimentary bites, a hosted bar, and music by DJ Daisy O’Dell. Tickets are on sale at the Getty Center website.

Kickoff LA Pride Weekend at Pride is Universal, the annual LGBTQ+ after hours event taking place at Universal Studios Hollywood on Thursday, June 8.

General Admission ticket holders can enter Universal Studios Hollywood starting at 4pm and enjoy SUPER NINTENDO WORLD™, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the Studio Tour and the rest of the park with regular guests. USH closes to the public at 9pm, and you get to stay for the Pride-only night and experience all of the rides and attractions till 1am!

Pride is Universal will feature DJs throughout the park, photo ops with 14 characters, a Main Stage Drag Show featuring LGBTQ+ artists, cash bars, retail shops and select restaurants.

Back by popular demand, the VIP – Universal Express ticket includes early access to the park at 2pm, Universal Express access to the park’s attractions, premium viewing areas at the Main Stage and exclusive access to the LA Pride VIP Lounge.

The largest Pride music event in the country, LA Pride in the Park will expand this year to a two-day extravaganza, taking place at Los Angeles State Historic Park on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10. Global superstars and GRAMMY Award-winning queens Megan Thee Stallion and Mariah Carey are headlining Friday and Saturday, respectively. The festival will also feature an array of local vendors and LGBTQ+ exhibitors; a large sober space, sponsor giveaways, Erotic City for the leather community, and the new Trans Galleria, highlighting the art and creativity of the LA trans community.

Single-day and weekend passes are now on sale at the LA Pride website. VIP tickets include expedited entry, front-of-stage viewing area, VIP lounge, private bars and restrooms, and elevated food offerings.

Presented by Christopher Street West (CSW), the 53rd Annual LA Pride Parade will step off at Sunset and Highland, run north on Highland, east on Hollywood, and south on Cahuenga. CSW has announced that queer comedian, actor and activist, Margaret Cho has been named the 2023 LA Pride Parade Icon Grand Marshal. CSW is also planning a custom tribute to Emmy-winner Leslie Jordan as the Legacy Grand Marshal, a new grand marshal designation to posthumously celebrate those who have made a lasting impact on the LGBTQ+ community. CSW has chosen the ACLU of Southern California to be this year’s Community Grand Marshals, as they celebrate their 100th anniversary of fighting for LGBTQ+ civil rights.

LA Pride Village is the official place to be after the LA Pride Parade, taking place from noon to 8pm just steps from the parade route. The festivities include vendors, activities, food, and stage performances from Pride notables such as Mariachi Arcoiris, the Gay Freedom Band LA, Secret Circus, Dance Church, and LA’s favorite queer AAPI drag party, Send Noodz.

On Friday, June 16, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures presents a Drop-In Workshop for Teens: Drag 101, featuring Pickle and friends!

The workshop will cover the history, theory and design of drag, and discuss the influence of drag culture in media and drag representation in film. And no drag class would be complete without a performance element - learn the history of (and how to) vogue.

Drag 101 will take place from 4:30pm to 6:30pm in the Shirley Temple Education Studio on the museum’s Lower Level. The workshop is free with museum admission and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Museum admission is free for youth ages 17 and under with advance reservation. The workshop is designed for teens ages 14 and up. Snacks will be provided.

Cinespia hosts classic films and modern favorites at historic locations across LA. In partnership with LA Pride, Cinespia presents a 70th anniversary screening of Gentlemen Prefer Blondes at Hollywood Forever on June 17; and The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Los Angeles State Historic Park on June 24.

Events include DJ sets before and after the film; classic concessions like hot popcorn, candies, hot dogs and nachos; full bar and a photobooth. Tickets are on sale at the Cinespia website.

Featuring a wide range of films, gourmet food trucks and live music, Street Food Cinema presents Saturday night screenings at outdoor locations from The Autry Museum to Los Angeles State Historic Park, Will Rogers State Historic Park, and Verdugo Park in Glendale.

On June 17, SFC presents a special Pride screening of The Birdcage (1996) at The Autry. A gay cabaret owner (played by Robin Williams) and his drag queen companion (Nathan Lane) agree to put up a false straight front so their son can introduce them to his fiancée's right-wing moralistic parents (Gene Hackman and Dianne Wiest).

Advance tickets are $22 for General Admission and $27 for the Reserved Section. Food trucks include Angelenos Woodfire Pizza, Baby's Badass Burger, Daddy Ji, Flamin Hot Chicken, Lupita's Tacos and Nibble Night. Doors at 5:30pm, band at 7pm and movie at 8:30pm.

Taking place at Micky's every second Saturday, Switch is bringing back QTAPI Nightlife to WeHo with its Queer & Asian Night! The Pride edition of Switch is taking place on June 17, featuring special guests Joella Perry, VHEXGIRL and Aymie Anaki. Get into the groove with VJ Jason Lin (Top 40, Dance, Pop, K-pop, EDM), VJ Vu Tran (Top 40 Mashups, Pop Dance, Hip Hop, Tech House), and VJ Marcus Chavez (K-Pop, J-Pop/CityPop, Top 40).

General Admission starts at $15. Switch hours are from 9pm to 2am, but stay for Micky’s After Hours till 4am.

One of LA's most popular outdoor music series, Grand Performances presents The Poetry of Pride on Friday, June 23. A drag queen reads banned children’s books aloud while a chorus of poets responds and creates new work on typewriters, on the spot and in collaboration with the audience, celebrating the outsider in us all.

Brian Sonia-Wallace has been creating poems for people on-the-spot at a typewriter since 2012, and teaching other poets to do the same. Through this act of service, he began to ask what it meant to be queer as an artist in conversation with your community: to be an outsider, an expert mimic, and a careful speaker.

Brian’s group Pride Poets brings queer poets to write thousands of poems for people at Pride parades, celebrating and memorializing lives which are too often invisible, and therefore, seen as disposable. In this show he brings together a righteous rainbow of LGBTQ+ poets, ages 17 to 70, to share their own work and write new work in dialogue with the audience about what we all share -- the capacity to feel.

On Friday, June 23, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures welcomes author Tre’vell Anderson for Stories of PRIDE, a conversation on LGBTQIA+ history and representation in cinema.

Taking place in the TMT Lobby from noon to 2pm, the event also includes an in-person book signing of Anderson's groundbreaking book, We See Each Other: A Black, Trans Journey Through TV and Film, which explores the history of transgender visibility in moving images. The Gallery Conversation is free with admission; tickets for the book signing are $27, which includes a signed copy of We See Each Other.

Located at The Bloc in Downtown LA, Alamo Drafthouse presents a special brunch screening of Rocketman at 11am on Saturday, June 24.

Described by director Dexter Fletcher (Bohemian Rhapsody) as a “musical fantasy,” Rocketman is a dream-like interpretation of Elton John’s incredible rise to success. Starring Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service) as Sir Elton and Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) as his lyricist and collaborator Bernie Taupin, Rocketman tells the story of an artistic friendship amidst the insanity of public life and self-destruction. Featuring colorful interpretations of Elton's ‘70s hits and outfits, Rocketman is a freewheeling, joyful look at a difficult period in a rock legend’s storied career.

One of the nation’s oldest LGBTQIA+ theatres, Celebration Theatre was founded in December 1982 in a Silver Lake storefront. The nonprofit was expressly organized as a community theatre "of, by, and for gay and lesbian people and their friends."

Presented by Celebration Theatre in association with the Los Angeles LGBT Center, A New Brain is a timely revival of the Finn & Lapine show about second chances and the urgency of art. Celebration Theatre brings us into the world of this queer musical of "captivating eccentricity" (New York Times) with an intimate experience of pathos, humor, and just a little bit of magic—to bring us back to life.

Composer Gordon Schwinn collapses into their lunch and awakes in the hospital, surrounded by their lover, mother, co-worker, doctor, and nurses. Coming face to face with their own mortality, Gordon sees their greatest fear: will they die with their greatest songs still unwritten? A New Brain reminds us that the power of music, love, and the creation of art can never be lost.

For the first time in its 44-year history, the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles will perform the music of Disney! Taking place at Walt Disney Concert Hall on Saturday and Sunday, June 24-25, Disney Pride in Concert features 200 singers, a 25-piece orchestra and stunning video projections.

GMCLA will reimagine songs from iconic films like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Mary Poppins; as well as modern classics like Coco, Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph and many more. The magical music of Disney Parks will round out this multimedia extravaganza. Now on view at the Vincent Price Art Museum through July 22, Kang Seung Lee: The Heart of A Hand pays tribute to Goh Choo San (1948–1987), a pioneering Singaporean-born choreographer who died of an AIDS-related illness at the age of 39. Although Goh choreographed and performed for prominent ballet companies throughout Asia, Europe, and North America during his lifetime, his legacy remains largely absent from queer, cultural, and dance histories in the United States.

Named for a poem by Mexican writer Xavier Villaurrutia, The Heart of A Hand presents new artworks created through extensive archival research, interviews, and collaborations.

Kang Seung Lee is a multidisciplinary artist who was born in South Korea and now lives and works in Los Angeles. His work frequently engages the legacy of transnational queer histories, particularly as they intersect with art history.
