A Note from Ernie - October 2018
Dear Friends,
Last month, I traveled to China to reaffirm L.A. Tourism’s commitment to our number one overseas market, participate in the 2018 World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) Summit & Brand USA’s China-U.S. Tourism Leadership Summit, and meet with officials from the Office of the U.S. Ambassador to discuss key travel issues. At WTCF, I was delighted to accept the coveted award for “Best City Marketing” for L.A. Tourism’s innovative marketing efforts with our China team.
During my visit, I conducted several interviews and roundtables with top Chinese media and clients to promote Los Angeles and strengthen our image as a desirable travel destination. I’m pleased to share that media coverage from this visit resulted in an estimated 8 million impressions worth $250,000 in ad equivalency value for the destination. Los Angeles is a top destination for Chinese travelers and we expect continued growth for the foreseeable future.
Don’t forget, we’ll be hosting our final Member Mixer of the year this Thursday, Oct. 25 at OUE Skyspace LA. Please join us for a fun evening of networking with fellow industry peers and our L.A. Tourism team while taking in a truly breathtaking view.
These are just a few of the many updates on L.A. Tourism and our industry that we’re sharing with you in October’s newsletter. As always, we will be here, working on behalf of all of our members and partners to keep the world coming to Los Angeles.
Best wishes,
Ernest Wooden Jr.
