A Note from Ernie - August 2018
Dear Friends,
Late last month, as part of Mayor Garcetti’s trade mission to Asia, I joined city leaders and officials from Los Angeles World Airports, Los Angeles Business Coalition and Port of Los Angeles in a collective effort to strengthen relationships and boost inbound tourism from two of L.A.’s top international markets – South Korea and Japan.
L.A. Tourism proudly hosted events in both Tokyo and Seoul, inviting key partners that we collaborate with frequently including airlines, travel trade, tour operators, and media. It was a terrific opportunity to showcase Los Angeles as a premier travel destination to our valued industry ambassadors. We also introduced our brand-new L.A. Insider, an online training tool that travel professionals can use to stay up-to-date with the destination’s latest offerings, now available in Korean and Japanese.
Here at home, we’re putting the finishing touches on our sixth annual Market Outlook Forum taking place at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Downtown on Wednesday, August 29. Our team of tourism experts have curated an informative program packed with new research and industry trends. You’ll also hear from an incredible panel of L.A. experts during a moderated discussion we’re calling “L.A. Visionaries: The Decade Ahead.” You can read more about our guest speakers in this month’s News & Notes section. There’s only a few more days left to register, and don’t forget, its free for all L.A. Tourism members.
These are just a few of the many updates on L.A. Tourism and our industry that we’re sharing with you in August’s newsletter. As always, we will be here, working on behalf of all of our members and partners to keep the world coming to Los Angeles.
Best wishes,
Ernest Wooden Jr.
