City Council for National Travel & Tourism Week. This opportunity allowed us to share new industry milestones while conveying the many benefits tourism delivers for Angelenos and our communities. Among the highlights: visitors to Los Angeles last year directly spent $23.9 billion dollars across the region, generating a record $36.6 billion dollars in total economic impact. We also highlighted tourism’s impactful role as a job creator as more than 534,000 Angelenos were employed within Leisure & Hospitality countywide – the highest total on record. You can read more in our National Travel & Tourism Week article. We know the Tourism Marketing District played an important role in achieving these record results, enabling the expansion of our efforts to market Los Angeles on a global scale. We share these celebratory milestones with every member of the TMD and I personally extend my congratulations to all.  I hope to see everyone at our upcoming TMD Regional Hotel Meetings in June. Remember, this is your Tourism Marketing District and your ideas and feedback are integral to the various programming and initiatives used to showcase our TMD hotels in Los Angeles across the globe.Kind Regards,Javier Cano TMD Chairman
