MUSIC + THE BODY

Bring your friends and family to enjoy an exciting free community event and concert with LACO, done in partnership with the National MS Society this Labor Day! Be one of the few to get a special code applicable to tickets to any of our concerts in the 2025/26 season*.
Begin the day with a selection of activities: learn about and make your own instruments, compose your own music, experience how music and dance can help you feel better, or even take some time outside to enjoy the Los Angeles weather!
A panel and talk with healthcare professionals about MS awareness will lead into the final, true event of the evening: the concert! Apply the knowledge and learning you’ve gathered through the day with us to a program of musical storytelling of works by MS advocate and composer Jeff Beal.
Beal will take the stage to lead his études that depict and illustrate his own life with multiple sclerosis. Conductor Leonard Slatkin leads from the podium, guiding the world premiere of Four Score – a piece written for him by Beal for his 80th birthday – and Kelly Hall-Tompkins as she joins LACO again to perform Body in Motion.
ACTIVITIES BEGIN AT 11 AM | CONCERT BEGINS AT 2 PM
Though the activities are open to everyone, seat availability for the concert at The Broad Stage is limited. Seats are on a first come, first served basis. If you are planning on attending only the concert, please arrive by 1:30 PM to ensure you are guaranteed a seat.
*Code is only applicable to orders of 3 or more tickets and is only applicable for concerts at Zipper Hall, The Huntington, and Cicada Restaurant and Lounge.
