Founded in December 2008, the GRAMMY Museum at L.A. LIVE celebrates the enduring legacies of all forms of music, the creative process, the art and technology of the recording process, and the history of the GRAMMY® Awards. The GRAMMY Museum educates visitors about the history and cultural significance of American music, and inspires the next generation to explore and create new forms of music using the roots that have existed in this country for centuries. The museum accomplishes this through innovative programming, cutting-edge interactive experiences, and exciting exhibitions. 

Six-time GRAMMY® winner Amy Winehouse is widely renowned not just as a British music icon and pop royalty, but also as a trendsetting fashion influencer. Opening Jan. 17 at the GRAMMY Museum, Beyond Black — The Style Of Amy Winehouse showcases the late singer's iconic outfits, as well as never-before-seen handwritten lyrics, journal entries and other reflections from her family's personal archive. Beyond Black - the first-ever Amy Winehouse exhibit in the U.S. - will run through April 13.

On Monday, Jan. 20, the GRAMMY Museum will host an exclusive GRAMMY Week kickoff event for members. The event will feature Winehouse's stylist, Naomi Parry and Winehouse's close friend, Catriona Gourlay telling the stories and discussing the history behind the costumes in the exhibit. Hosted by music journalist Eve Barlow, the program will take place from 5pm - 6pm in the museum’s Clive Davis Theater and will be followed by free public entry to the museum, and a free public GRAMMY Week launch party. One of the key players behind the most memorable concert tours of the 1970s, Jerry Weintraub worked with legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, John Denver, The Carpenters, Neil Diamond, Bob Dylan, Rick James, Beach Boys, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, The Commodores, the Bee Gees, The Moody Blues, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney.

Now on view through February 2020, Jerry Weintraub Presents… showcases original items from Weintraub's most notable tours, including personalized jackets, tour documents, contracts, and more. The exhibit offers an inside look at how Weintraub, his management company, Management 3 and his partners at Concerts West forever changed the concert business by taking the presentation of music to a never-before-seen size and scale.

One of the most influential and prolific bands in rock and roll history, The Ventures have recorded more than 250 albums in the past 60 years. Between 1960 and 1972, 38 of The Ventures' albums made it to the charts. With more than 100 million records sold, The Ventures are the best-selling instrumental band of all time. Their versatility has allowed the band to explore several music styles throughout their career, including surf, country, classical, and more. Additionally, the Ventures released instructional albums that many novice guitar players have credited as a direct influence on their own bands, which has earned The Ventures the honorary title of "the band that launched a thousand bands."

On view through Aug. 3, Walk, Don't Run: 60 Years Of The Ventures exhibits original items from the group's six-decade career, including instruments, tour programs, never-before-seen photos, vinyl, and more. Highlights include a 1965 Mosrite The Ventures Model Electric Guitar, an original test pressing of "Hawaii Five-O," and an original 45 RPM of their first hit, "Walk, Don't Run" - the 1960 single was named by Rolling Stone magazine as one of the Top 100 Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time.

In October 2009, the GRAMMY Museum debuted Michael Jackson: A Musical Legacy, the temporary memorial display that was launched following Jackson's death in June 2009. The museum’s current Michael Jackson tribute resides on the fourth floor and features artifacts that portray Jackson’s career during the time when his landmark album Thriller was released. Featured artifacts include one of Jackson's trademark sequin gloves from the 1984 "Victory" tour, the fedora worn during the live performance of "Billie Jean," and items from the groundbreaking "Thriller" music video, including the famous red leather jacket.
