Visit CA Global Product Managers FAM
L.A. Tourism hosted a group FAM tour for product managers nominated by Visit CA’s global offices March 22-26, 2016. Countries represented on the FAM included Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Canada, China and India. The educational itinerary showcased L.A.’s unique outdoor activities including Hikes and Bikes’ Hollywood Hills hike and Redline’s Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes walking tour, among others. Accommodations were provided by The London West Hollywood.

Korean Air FAM (Japan)
L.A. Tourism, in partnership with Korean Airlines, hosted a VIP FAM for Japanese Travel Trade Executives March 9-11, 2016. The FAM’s educational itinerary showcased L.A.’s culture, attractions and entertainment options for future tour packages. Highlights included The Getty Center, The Broad and Petersen Automotive Museum. Other experiences included Universal Studios Hollywood, dinner at Hard Rock Café at CityWalk, The Original Farmer’s Market and more. Accommodations were provided by The Westin Bonaventure.

L.A. Tourism’s China office participated in the Brand USA China Sales Mission in Shanghai March 1-3, 2016. Representatives conducted 30 one-on-one appointments with buyers from Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Sichuan. Updates on LAX, L.A.’s attractions such as the Petersen Automotive Museum and The Broad, new hotel openings, arts and culture, recreational activities were provided to more than 40 companies including wholesalers, tour operators, OTAs and MICE organizers. China’s route development to L.A., China-Ready and the L.A. Angel Academy were also promoted.

L.A. Tourism’s China office attended the Club California sessions in Chengdu on March 5, 2016 and in Beijing on March 10, 2016.  The Club California product development series provides California partners the opportunity to have in-depth conversations with local tour operators and explore new business opportunities. L.A. Tourism met with 15 companies from Chengdu & Beijing at the series and presented updated information on LAX, L.A.’s newest attractions, China's route development to L.A., China-Ready and the L.A. Angel Academy. In FY15/16, Visit California will host six Club California sessions, with two in Shanghai, two in Beijing, one in Chengdu, and one in Guangzhou.

Discover America Denmark

L.A. Tourism’s Europe office exhibited at Discover America Denmark’s USA Travel Show in Copenhagen, on March 7, 2016, which was attended by 150 Scandinavian key travel industry travel trade. Representative Hayley French updated attendees on L.A. and LAX offerings. The event also complemented the launch of SAS’ new direct air service from Sweden to LAX that began March 14, 2016.

L.A. Tourism’s France office participated in a Visit California workshop held in Lyon on March 14, 2016 and Paris on March 15, 2016, which was attended by 217 travel agents and product managers. Representatives provided updates on Los Angeles and LAX to the group.

L.A. Tourism representative Murielle Nouchy met with Norwegian Airlines to discuss support of inaugural service activity, which is scheduled to begin July 30, 2016, in order to create awareness to travel trade and consumers. The service will operate twice a week, all year. Initiatives discussed included a co-op marketing campaign, co-op FAM starting as early as November 2016.

L.A. Tourism’s France office, in partnership with TO JetSet Voyages and French airline XL Airways, put forth a sales challenge initiative. From March 29 to May 30, 2016, the travel agents who sell at least 3 nights in Los Angeles with XL Airways qualify to win a trip for two (flights and accommodations included) for six nights in Los Angeles with car rental and Go Card Los Angeles. The winner must sell the most stays in L.A. during the above period.

New Air Service Launch – Scandinavian Airlines (SAS)
L.A. Tourism and LAWA hosted a reception and welcome dinner at Plant Food + Wine in Venice for 50 VIPs from Scandinavia to celebrate the launch of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) new daily service from Sweden to LAX on March 14, 2016. The VIP delegation included SAS’ CEO, key travel trade, media and business partners.

H.I.S. Welcome
L.A. Tourism welcomed H.I.S. to their new office located at the Westin Bonaventure building with Sprinkles Cupcakes.  H.I.S. is a key L.A. Tourism partner in the Japan market and we’re delighted they’re now neighbors.

ITB 2016
L.A. Tourism exhibited at ITB, the world’s largest tourism trade show in Berlin, Germany, which attracted more than 10,000 exhibitors and 170,000 consumers. Visit California hosted 19 partners, including L.A. Tourism, at its Brand USA Hall booth. Representative Annette Kaiser-Rott conducted more than 30 meetings with key tour operators, airlines and journalists.

L.A. Tourism – Germany
L.A. Tourism representative Annette Kaiser-Rott conducted several tour operator trainings and product meetings with US specialists in Germany to promote new and existing product at LAX and within Los Angeles such as the upcoming opening of Metro’s Expo line extension, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood, Skypspace LA and the addition of the Discover Los Angeles website in German (www.de.discoverLosAngeles.com).

L.A. Tourism - Japan
L.A. Tourism’s Japan office hosted a training seminar at the office of H.I.S. Fukuoka located in Kyushu Island. H.I.S. is one the fastest growing travel agencies in Japan and their sales volume of outbound travel is nearly identical a large Japanese travel agency, JTB. Representatives provided updated information on L.A. including travel trends, new flight information from Narita, Haneda and Kansai, Tom Bradley International Terminal at LAX, and new attractions such as The Broad, Metro’s EXPO line to Santa Monica, and future hotel projects. 35 travel agents attended the seminar.

Active America China
L.A. Tourism exhibited at Active America China, the North American show that’s fully dedicated to building inbound Chinese tourism, in Fort Worth, TX March 16-18, 2016. The conference brought 60 Chinese buyers, with specialties across group travel, FIT, and MICE markets together to share industry findings as well as network. Representatives successfully conducted 30 one-on-one meetings as well as presented new member products.

Visit USA Australia Sales Mission
L.A. Tourism’s Australia office participated in the annual Visit USA Australia Sales Mission February 15-18, 2016. Representative Craig Gibbons provided L.A. hotel development and LAX Airport updates to more than 1,000 Australian travel agents in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Member partners included The Garland Hotel and Starline Tours. The mission also included a pre-scheduled B2B appointment session sponsored by Brand USA with 50 leading tour operators and product managers looking to contract new tourism product for the FY2017 season.

Travmedia IMM
L.A Tourism sponsored the Travmedia International Media Market Place (IMM) in Sydney, Australia on February 19, 2016. IMM is a B2B format trade show for travel and lifestyle media to network with international tourism boards. Messaging about LAX’s modernization and its positioning as a premier U.S. gateway was presented at the event as it is crucial to the Australian market. Representative Craig Gibbons hosted a morning tea reception for 288 journalists and provided an update on LAX’s future developments.

Flight Centre New Zealand Travel Expo
L.A. Tourism, in partnership with LAWA and Universal Studios Hollywood, participated in the annual Flight Centre consumer travel expo in Auckland, New Zealand February 19-20, 2016. The expo is the largest of its kind in New Zealand, attracting more than 10,000 people across two days. L.A Tourism provided consumers with first-hand travel advice for L.A. and promoted LAX airfares as well as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios.

Brand USA New Zealand – Discover America Sales Mission
L.A Tourism and LAWA participated in the first annual Brand USA New Zealand – Discover America Sales Mission February 21-22, 2016. The sales mission visited both Auckland and Christchurch and was attended by 600 travel agents who received destination training seminars.

L.A Tourism returned to the annual The Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Expo (AIME) at Melbourne, Convention Centre February 22-23, 2016, which attracted more than 1,000 hosted MICE buyers. Partners exhibiting at the L.A. Tourism booth included Intercontinental Century City and Universal Studios Hollywood. L.A. Tourism conducted 56 pre-scheduled B2B appointments and provided key updates on MICE hotel and experience developments across Los Angeles.

In partnership with C&IT Magazine and Virgin Atlantic, L.A. Tourism hosted the meetL.A. Forum FAM March 10-15, 2016, consisting of the most influential buyers from the UK MICE market. The event was one of the most highly anticipated in the U.K. industry’s event calendar and featured an interactive and energized schedule. The FAM delivered fantastic networking and education sessions with 20 individual business meetings. Attendees included 19 key U.K. agencies, who also enjoyed unique experiences that make Los Angeles a premier meetings destination. 14 L.A. Tourism partners including J.W. Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE, Loews Hollywood, The London West Hollywood, The Mondrian, The Line, among others. J.W. Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE served as the host venue for the Forum and accommodations were provided by Sofitel Los Angeles Beverly Hills. L.A. Tourism would like to thank all our partners that hosted the group throughout the Forum & the FAM, both of which were very successful and well-received.

Sales representatives Carolyn Brown and Lanie Dean Griffin conducted business appointments with meetings & events professionals throughout the show. Partner hotel included the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

L.A. Tourism’s Sales team hosted a special meetL.A. Winter Luncheon for 12 meeting professionals from the pharmaceutical vertical in New Jersey alongside partners J.W. Marriott at L.A. LIVE, InterContinental Los Angeles Century City, The Beverly Hilton and Omni Los Angeles Hotel March 1, 2016. Sales representatives provided updates on Downtown L.A., upcoming hotel projects, airlift and more at the luncheon, which featured a keynote speech from Ernest Wooden Jr., President & CEO of L.A. Tourism.

meetL.A. Experience
L.A. Tourism’s Sales team, in partnership with Terranea Resort and 360 Destination Group, hosted a group of meeting & event professionals from the Midwest for the meetL.A. Experience March 11-13, 2016. The educational itinerary showcased Los Angeles as a premier meetings destination and highlighted member partners and venues including the Los Angeles Lakers game on March 13 at STAPLES Center.  Accommodations were provided by Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes.

Get Lost in L.A.
L.A. Tourism PR hosted a first-ever media event in New York to promote the launch of the Get Lost In L.A. campaign March 2, 2016. The event brought the L.A. ethos to life with tacos from Guerrilla Tacos, a live art installation from popular street artist Colette Miller, a signature cocktail from famed L.A. mixologist Beau Du Bois and beats by DJ Morse Code. More than 60 media attended the event and learned about the new campaign.

Visiting Journalist Program
L.A. Tourism’s Public Relations team hosted Arizona-based writer Christina Fuoco on assignment with Times Media Group's Entertainer! and Valley Lifestyles for a Los Angeles feature March 18-20, 2016. Christina’s educational itinerary included activities in the Hollywood and Universal City neighborhoods such as Warner Bros. Studio Tour, Starline Tours, Café Sierra and Barrel & Ashes. Accommodations were provided by Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City.

Visit California's 2016 New York Media Reception
L.A. Tourism PR attended Visit California’s annual media event in New York City in March, which was attended by top travel media in the greater New York City. Travel media are invited to network with tourism experts from across the Golden State to discover what's new in California. This year’s event attracted a record-breaking 118 media.

Visit California's Exclusive Time Inc. Dinner
L.A. Tourism PR representatives successfully pitched top Los Angeles stories to key media at an intimate Visit California dinner reception at the new Time Inc. offices in New York. The event was attended by a small group of delegates to network with a selection of key Time Inc. editorial staff, including Nathan Lump, editor-in-chief of Travel + Leisure, and Nilou Motamed, editor-in-chief of Food & Wine.

Volaris Airlines Anniversary

In partnership with Volaris Airlines, L.A. Tourism PR hosted seven social media influencers and two Mexican journalists, Exélsior and Radio Formula, to celebrate Volaris’ 10th Anniversary. The group visited Los Angeles March 9-12, 2016 and experienced Warner Bros. Studio Tour, a hike with Bikes and Hikes and a sunset cruise with Hornblower Cruises.
