For movie fans, outdoor movies in Los Angeles are the best of all worlds: classic films and modern hits are shown on a big screen under the stars, along with plenty of delicious food and drinks. And thanks to LA's great weather, the outdoor movie season runs well into fall. Gather your friends and enjoy an "endless summer" of entertainment with our guide to the best outdoor movies in LA.

Hollywood Bowl

Movie nights are some of the most popular events at the world-famous Hollywood Bowl, from the annual John Williams: Maestro of the Movies (July 12-14) to the perennial favorite The Sound of Music Sing-Along on September 21. Featuring live accompaniment by the LA Phil, the Bowl's 2024 movie screenings include Singin' in the Rain (Aug. 27) and the Marvel Studios Infinity Saga Concert Experience (Aug. 30-31).

On Saturday, July 27, dance the night away with the Barbie Land™ Sinfonietta as Barbie The Movie: In Concert comes to the Hollywood Bowl! The record-shattering, full-length feature film will be accompanied live by an all-women, majority women-of-color orchestra renowned for their musical skill and style. The Barbie Land Sinfonietta is conducted by Tony Award-winner Macy Schmidt. Barbie® fans of all ages are invited to celebrate the music of the film in a one-of-a-kind immersive experience!

Cinespia hosts classic films and modern favorites at historic locations across LA. Upcoming screenings at Los Angeles State Historic Park in Downtown LA include Mamma Mia! (May 10) and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers on May 17. Screenings at the famed Hollywood Forever Cemetery include Se7en (May 26), Legally Blonde (June 1), Dazed and Confused (June 8), Across the Universe (June 15), D.E.B.S. (June 22) and What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (June 29).

On Saturday, May 25, Rose Bowl Stadium will host a screening of Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous. Sit on the field inside the landmark stadium, bring a picnic or indulge in classic movie concessions. Beer, wine and cocktails will be available for purchase. Enjoy a live DJ set and free photo booth!

Street Food Cinema

Featuring a wide range of films, gourmet food trucks and live music, Street Food Cinema presents Saturday night screenings at outdoor locations from Los Angeles State Historic Park to The Autry Museum, Griffith Park and more.

Upcoming screenings at The Autry include Barbie (April 27), Freaky Friday (May 11), Crazy Rich Asians (May 25), Avatar: The Last Airbender (June 15) and (500) Days of Summer (June 22).

LA State Historic Park is hosting 30th anniversary screenings of Pulp Fiction (May 4) and The Crow (June 1).

On June 29, D23 and SFC are teaming up to present a special 60th anniversary screening of Mary Poppins at the famous Griffith Park Carousel, renowned as one of Walt Disney's original inspirations for Disneyland. The Merry-Go-Round has been closed to the public for years, but for one night only fans will be able to get up-close and take pics!

The Hollywood Roosevelt

Tropicana Movie Nights returns to the landmark Hollywood Roosevelt! Screening at the famed David Hockney pool, the series features movies filmed in LA.

August features "Modern LA Noir" - The Big Lebowski (Aug. 1), The Usual Suspects (Aug. 8), Pulp Fiction (Aug. 15), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (Aug. 22) and The Nice Guys (Aug. 29).

Laugh it up in September with "HaHaHollywood" - Fletch (Sept. 5), The Naked Gun (Sept. 12), I Love You Man (Sept. 19) and Swingers (Sept. 26).

Advance tickets at Eventbrite are required. Doors open at 7pm, movie starts at 8:30pm. Food and drink available to order at the bar to be delivered to your table. The Montalban Theatre

Located near the iconic intersection of Hollywood and Vine, The Montalbán kicked off its 2024 Rooftop Movies season with Batman 1989 on April 5. Upcoming screenings include Casablanca (Apr. 12), Pulp Fiction (Apr. 13), The Big Lebowski (Apr. 19), The Breakfast Club (Apr. 20), The Goonies (Apr. 26) and La La Land (Apr. 27).

The Montalbán’s rooftop OASIS is outfitted with a bar, concession stand, and kitchen. Doors for each screening open at 6pm, with the feature film starting 10 minutes after sunset (8pm).

Tickets cost $20 for regular admission and include headset rental and popcorn. Pricing is $50 for a double seat (aka loveseat), which includes headsets, bottomless popcorn and champagne toast.

Skirball Cultural Center

Open to the public since 1996, the Skirball Cultural Center is renowned as one of the world's most dynamic Jewish cultural institutions. This year's Friday night outdoor movie screenings are inspired by Wild Things Are Happening: The Art of Maurice Sendak. Opening at the Skirball on April 18, the exhibition is the largest and most complete exhibition of the celebrated Jewish American artist's 60-year career.

The 2024 season kicks off on Friday, May 31 with The Neverending Story (1984). Other screenings include Spike Jonze's Where the Wild Things Are (2009) on June 28; and Guillermo del Toro's Oscar-winning Pan's Labyrinth (2006) on July 12. Doors at 6pm for guests to stroll the museum. Movies start at 8:30pm. Tickets are $20 for General Admission and $15 for Members and Full-Time Students.

Melrose Rooftop Theatre - E.P. & L.P.

Located on the rooftop adjacent to the patio at E.P. & L.P., the Melrose Rooftop Theatre (MRT) offers an unforgettable outdoor cinema experience with the Hollywood Hills as the stunning backdrop. MRT features a state-of-the-art Da-Lite 16’ x 9’ screen, wireless headphones, classic concessions and bean bag seats.

Dive-In Movies - The Garland

Located in North Hollywood just minutes from Universal Studios Hollywood, The Garland mixes a vintage SoCal vibe with 21st century chic. The hotel was originally opened by actress Beverly Garland, best known for her role as Fred MacMurray's wife on the final three seasons of My Three Sons.

Situated at the heart of this lush urban oasis, the pool offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of LA along with Dive-In Movies, where kids of all ages can enjoy a classic flick starting at sundown from Wednesday to Sunday.

Outdoor Movie Night - Jamaica Bay Inn

Located in Marina del Rey, Jamaica Bay Inn is hosting Outdoor Movie Night, a FREE outdoor movie series taking place on their beachfront lawn every Sunday.
