"Jaws" (35mm screening) - Academy Museum (Jan. 2, 2026)
If you’ve been planning to check out Jaws: The Exhibition at the Academy Museum, Friday, January 2, is a good day to go. Plan to stick around late because Steven Spielberg’s 1975 blockbuster will be screening in 35mm at 7:30pm in the David Geffen Theater.
T.S.O.L. - The Regent (Jan. 2, 2026)
SoCal punk legends T.S.O.L. launch into the new year with a brief tour that starts at The Regent on Friday, January 2. They’ll be joined by The Zeros ’77, The Pandoras, Roundeye and River Rats. It’s a fairly early show - doors open at 6pm - and all ages are welcome!
Tribute to David Berman - Zebulon (Jan. 2, 2026)
The third annual Tribute to David Berman is happening at Zebulon on Friday, January 2. Locals Country Restroom will perform as Silver Jews and Purple Mountains cover band Approaching Perfection for a sing-along style event celebrating the late singer-songwriter. Profits from the show benefit the David Berman Memorial Fund at WTJU. Tickets at Dice.
Stereophonic - Pantages (Through Jan. 2, 2026)
Stereophonic, the Tony-winning play by David Adjimi with music from former Arcade Fire member Will Butler, concludes its month-long run at Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre on Friday, January 2. The nearly three-hour play is recommended for ages 13 and older and includes matinee and evening performances.
Space Yacht Anniversary: Big Bass Ting - Avalon (Jan. 3, 2026)
Space Yacht begins its 11th anniversary party on Saturday, January 3, with a two-room bash at Avalon. Big Bass Ting takes over the venue’s main stage with a secret lineup of bass DJs. Upstairs, inside Bardot, Critical Mass will have its own secret lineup of drum 'n' bass DJs.
Tony Jupiter - El Rey (Jan. 3, 2026)
Tony Jupiter channels The Cure and The Smiths, albeit with a surf guitar twist, in his brand of indie pop. He plays El Rey on Saturday, January 3, alongside Lalalove, Rangoo and Beach Cowboys.
Dirty Projectors Trio - Blue Note (Jan. 3-4, 2026)
David Longstreth, Chris Bear and Karl McComas-Reichl play the Blue Note as Dirty Projectors Trio on Saturday, January 3 and Sunday, January 4. They’ll play two sets each night, at 7pm and 9:30pm.
Beautiful Altadena Benefit - Scribble (Jan. 4, 2026)
Scribble, the counseling center/community event space in Highland Park, is hosting a poetry reading on Sunday, January 4, to benefit subsidized therapy for survivors of the 2025 wildfires. Jessica Abughattas, Chelsea Bayouth, Derrick Brown, T. Bambrick, Chris Kessler and more will be reading throughout the evening. Tickets at Dice.

Holidays Made Here - Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood (Through Jan. 4, 2026)
Get ready to talk fast and live slow as the world of Gilmore Girls springs to life at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood for an immersive celebration of the show’s 25th anniversary. From Dec. 18, 2025 to Jan. 4, 2026 (closed Christmas Day), fans are invited to step into Stars Hollow, fully recreated with authentic detail and dressed for the holidays. Guests will also enjoy behind-the-scenes stories from Gremlins, Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and many more holiday favorites.
Diane Keaton’s "Heaven" - Philosophical Research Society (Jan. 4, 2026)
By popular demand, Philosophical Research Society is presenting an encore screening of Diane Keaton’s recently remastered 1987 directorial debut, Heaven on Sunday, January 4 - the eve of what would have been the late star’s 80th birthday. Executive producer and distributor Annie Holland will be on hand for a Q&A following the film. Tickets at Eventbrite.
LA Fights Back - The Regent (Jan. 4, 2026)
Sextile, Automatic, Choir Boy and Mondo Mundo head up a stacked bill for LA Fights Back on Sunday, January 4, at the Regent Theatre. Presented by heaven2nite and Permanent Records, the all-ages show benefits the Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights (CHIRLA). This is an early show - doors at 5pm and the first performance is set to begin at 5:30pm.
