If you’ve been planning to check out Jaws: The Exhibition at the Academy Museum, Friday, January 2, is a great day to go: Steven Spielberg’s 1975 blockbuster will be screening in 35mm at 7:30pm in the David Geffen Theater.
Beautiful Altadena Benefit - Scribble (Jan. 4, 2026)
Scribble, the counseling center/community event space in Highland Park, is hosting a poetry reading on Sunday, January 4, to benefit subsidized therapy for survivors of the 2025 wildfires. "Twin Peaks" Season 1 Screenings - Zebulon (January 2026)
To celebrate David Lynch’s birth month, Zebulon will be screening two episodes of the first season of Twin Peaks every Sunday in January. Fans can order coffee and pie, or a themed cocktail, to enjoy as they step back into the world of David Lynch. There’s no cover and seating is first come, first served for the 2pm screenings.
Diane Keaton’s "Heaven" - Philosophical Research Society (Jan. 4, 2026)
By popular demand, Philosophical Research Society is presenting an encore screening of Diane Keaton’s recently remastered 1987 directorial debut, Heaven on Sunday, January 4 - the eve of what would have been the late star’s 80th birthday. Executive producer and distributor Annie Holland will participate in a Q&A following the film. Tickets at Eventbrite.

Kenneth Whalum - Blue Note (Dec. 29)
Singer, saxophonist, songwriter and producer Kenneth Whalum has worked with everyone from Beyoncé to Trey Anastassio to Sabrina Carpenter. He'll play the Blue Note on Monday, December 29 with performances at 7pm and 9:30pm.
Pete Escovedo & Family - Catalina Jazz Club (Dec. 30-31)
Percussionist extraordinaire Pete Escovedo & Family close out 2025 at Catalina Jazz Club, where they'll take the stage on Tuesday, December 30 for an 8:30pm show and then twice on New Year’s Eve, at 8:30pm and 11pm. Tickets at the Catalina Jazz Club website.
T.S.O.L. - The Regent (Jan. 2, 2026)
SoCal punk legends T.S.O.L. launch into the new year with a brief tour across the region that kicks off at The Regent on Friday, January 2. They’ll be joined by The Zeros ’77, The Pandoras, Roundeye and River Rats. It’s a fairly early show - doors open at 6pm - and all ages are welcome.
Tribute to David Berman - Zebulon (Jan. 2, 2026)
The third annual Tribute to David Berman is happening at Zebulon on Friday, January 2. Locals Country Restroom will perform as Silver Jews and Purple Mountains cover band Approaching Perfection for a sing-along style event celebrating the late singer-songwriter. Pasadena’s signature event, the Rose Parade, begins on New Year’s Day at 8am. Related events, from Bandfest - which features some of the bands scheduled to march in the parade - to the post-parade Floatfest will take place throughout the week. Deep Frique - The East Angel (Dec. 31)
Deep-LA and Le Frique Sonique join forces for Deep Frique, taking place on New Year’s Eve at The East Angel in the Arts District. The lineup is stacked with local favorites Marques Wyatt, Jeremy Sole, Travis Holcmobe and Big Cee. Tickets at Dice.
Los Chicos del Mambo - The Goldfish (Dec. 31)
Los Chicos del Mambo bring a mix of mambo, merengue, salsa and more, in addition to a 20-piece orchestra, to The Goldfish on New Year’s Eve. Admission to the 21+ event is free and the party gets started at 8pm.
Maurice - Los Globos (Dec. 31)
Maurice takes over Los Globos on New Year’s Eve with four areas for dancing into 2026. Choose from the party’s signature mix of “hi-nrg 80s gay disco,” dance to house and remixed pop with DJs Leland and Nic Jericho, head to the VIP for ‘90s and ‘00s throwbacks with Mateo Segade or venture into the basement for Berlin-style techno and house with DJ Rossi.
Night Bass: AC Slater - Sound (Dec. 31)
AC Slater brings Night Bass to Sound on New Year’s Eve for the final night of the club’s end-of-2025 blowout. NYE-only tickets are available, but if you want to hit up all four parties in the series, which include Tinklicker on December 30, get the Sound New Year’s Eve Pass.
Space Yacht Anniversary: Big Bass Ting - Avalon (Jan. 3, 2026)
Space Yacht begins its 11th anniversary party on Saturday, January 3, with a two-room bash at Avalon. Big Bass Ting takes over the venue’s main stage with a secret lineup of bass DJs. Upstairs, inside Bardot, will be Critical Mass with its own secret lineup of drum’n’bass DJs.

The Lakers play their final game of 2025 at home on Tuesday, December 30, when they take on the Detroit Pistons at Crypto.com Arena. They’ll be starting the new year at home too, when they go up against the Memphis Grizzlies first on Friday, January 2, and again on Sunday, January 4.
Rose Bowl Game: Indiana vs. TBD (Jan. 1, 2026)
The College Football Playoff Quarterfinal will feature the top-ranked Big Ten champion Indiana Hoosiers against either the Alabama Crimson Tide or the Oklahoma Sooners in the 112th Rose Bowl Game. Kickoff for "The Granddaddy of Them All" is scheduled for 1pm.
LA Kings vs. Tampa Bay Lightning - Crypto.com Arena (Jan. 1, 2026)
The LA Kings kick off 2026 with a New Year’s Day game against the Tampa Bay Lightning at Crypto.com Arena. They’ll be on their home ice again on Saturday, January 3, when they face off against the Minnesota Wild.

Stereophonic - The Pantages (Through Jan. 2, 2026)
Stereophonic, the Tony-winning play by David Adjimi with music from former Arcade Fire member Will Butler, opens for a month-long run at Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre on Tuesday, December 9. The nearly three-hour play is recommended for ages 13 and older and, in addition to evening performances, there are weekend and select weekday matinee performances through January 2.
