The Natural History Museum of LA County continues the 20th anniversary season of First Fridays on March 6 with the theme “Life at City Scale.” Hear scientists discuss the ecosystems that exist within our cities. Dance to DJs from Arform’s collective and see live performances from Al Menne and Thao.
Oscar Nominee Spotlight: Animated Short Films - Academy Museum (March 7)
The Academy Museum hosts a Saturday morning screening of this year’s Oscar-nominated animated short films, with the nominated filmmakers on-hand to introduce their work before the screenings. While you’re there, check out the production materials from these films in the Sidney Poitier Grand Lobby.

Hear from this year’s Oscar nominees in the Animated Feature Film category during a 4 p.m. panel in the David Geffen Theater at the Academy Museum. Production materials from the nominated films will be on view in the Museum’s Sidney Poitier Grand Lobby.
Sarah Davachi, Robert Takahashi Novak - The Broad (March 7)
Join organist Sarah Davachi and electronic musician and sound artist Robert Takahashi Novak in the lobby of the Broad on Saturday, March 7, where they will perform commissioned compositions designed with the space in mind. These world premiere performances are presented as a complement to the museum’s current exhibition, Robert Therrien: This Is a Story.
Oscar Nominee Spotlight: Documentary Short Film - Academy Museum (March 8)
Want to see this year’s Oscar nominees in the Documentary Short Film category? The Academy Museum will be screening them on Sunday, March 8, with the filmmakers on hand to introduce their films. Screenings begin at 11 a.m. in the David Geffen Theater.

Dudamel, Dante and Beethoven 6 - Walt Disney Concert Hall (March 5, 6, 8)
Gustavo Dudamel conducts LA Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall on March 5, 6 and 8 in a program that begins with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 and concludes with an LA Phil Commission, Thomas Adès Inferno- Part 1 of Dante.
Clarissa Bitar, San Cha, Corazón de Cedro - 2220 Arts + Archives (March 6)
Oud player and composer Clarissa Bitar headlines at 2220 Arts + Archives on Friday, March 6, with works from their latest album, Bakhaf al Layl. Opening an evening celebrating folk sounds from Latin America and the Middle East are San Cha and Corazón de Cedro.
La Santa Cecilia - The Fonda (March 6)
As a prelude to their spring tour. Grammy winners La Santa Cecilia play The Fonda on Friday, March 6. Opening the show are locals Carlos y Charlos.
Excision - Kia Forum (March 6 and 7)
Canadian DJ/producer Excision takes to the stage at Kia Forum on March 6 and 7. Each night has a different support lineup, with Kai Wachi and Holi amongst the openers for Friday’s show, while Adventure Club, Riot Ten and more play Saturday. Single night tickets and weekend passes are available.
The Great Wall of Los Angeles - Walt Disney Concert Hall (March 7)
Composers Juhi Bansal, Nina Shekhar, Estevan Olmos, Nicolás Lell Benavides, Xavier Muzik and Viet Cuong contribute to the hour-long symphony inspired by Judy Baca’s mural, The Great Wall of Los Angeles, which will be presented at Walt Disney Concert Hall on March 7 alongside an original film by Alejandro G. Iñárritu.

Family Fun Day Movie Matinee: Rango! - Autry Museum of the American West (March 7)
The 2011 animated Western film Rango! screens at Autry Museum of the American West on Saturday, March 7. Before the matinee, Critter Squad Wildlife Defenders will be on hand to introduce the audience to reptiles and amphibians. Crafts, games and a scavenger hunt are also part of the fun, which begins at 10 a.m.

Drama - The Wiltern (March 7)
Tickets are running low to catch Drama at The Wiltern on Saturday, March 7. The Chicago-based duo, known for their mix of house and synthpop, are finishing up their Platonic Romance tour in Los Angeles. Catch them now before they play Coachella in April.
Dub Club: Don Carlos - Echoplex (March 7)
Dub Club is back on Saturday, March 7 at the Echoplex, and joining the crew of DJs and MCs is legendary reggae singer Don Carlos.
Sven Väth - Lot 613 (March 7)
Superstar DJ Sven Väth returns to Los Angeles on Saturday, March 7, for an extended set at Lot 613. Doors are at 9 p.m. for the 21+ rager and the beats will flow until 3 a.m.
Sports
The Kings - Crypto.com Arena (March 2, 5, 7)
The Kings play Colorado Avalanches on Monday, March 2, in the first of three home games during the first week of the month. They’ll be back at Crypto on Thursday, March 5, for a match against the New York Islanders and, on March 7, the puck drops at 4 p.m. for a Saturday afternoon meeting with the Montreal Canadiens.
The Lakers - Crypto.com Arena (March 3, 6, 8)
The Lakers go up against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, March 3, at Crypto. They’ll head out of town for Thursday’s game that week, but will be back home for the weekend, when they play the Indiana Pacers on Friday, March 6, and the New York Knicks on Sunday, March 8.
The Clippers - Intuit Dome (March 4)
Catch The Clippers at home on Wednesday, March 4, when the team plays Indiana Pacers. The night’s giveaway is Bradley Beal bobblehead for the first 10,000 fans to enter Intuit Dome.

Dragon Mama @ Geffen Playhouse
Playwright and actor Sara Porkalob brings Dragon Mama, the second installment in The Dragon Cycle, to the Geffen Playhouse for its LA Premiere. Directed by Andrew Russell, Dragon Mama opens on Wednesday, March 4 and runs through April 12.
