VISITORS TO LOS ANGELES GENERATED $42.6 BILLION IN BUSINESS SALES AND SUPPORTED MORE THAN 530,000 JOBS IN 2025 AS THE REGION PREPARES FOR AN UNPRECEDENTED ERA OF GLOBAL VISIBILITY
New economic impact data underscores the Visitor Industry’s role in supporting employment, local businesses, and essential public services as City leaders advance a shared vision for the future of the visitor economy
LOS ANGELES (July 29, 2026) — As Los Angeles enters an unprecedented period of global visibility and opportunity, newly released data from Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board (Los Angeles Tourism) and Tourism Economics shows visitors generated $42.6 billion in total business sales across the region in 2025, supporting more than 530,000 jobs in the Visitor Industry throughout Los Angeles County.
Visitors generated approximately $118 million in economic activity every day in Los Angeles during 2025. The Visitor Industry also contributed $305 million to the City's General Fund last fiscal year and drove $3.4 billion in state and local tax revenues, helping fund essential services that benefit residents throughout the region. As a result of the public services funded through visitor tax revenues, the average Los Angeles County household saved approximately $1,000 in annual taxes.
"Despite a variety of headwinds impacting tourism nationally, LA’s Visitor Industry continues to be one of the largest contributors to our local economy. Ensuring a sustainable future for this vital business sector is critical to the hundreds of thousands of Angelenos and the local businesses – including hundreds of small and diverse-owned businesses – whose livelihoods depend on the industry, " said Adam Burke, President & CEO of Los Angeles Tourism. "The data from 2025 demonstrates the powerful role the Visitor Industry plays in strengthening our economy and supporting the quality of life across every Los Angeles region, neighborhood, and household. The successful hosting of FIFA World Cup 26™ showcased Los Angeles' ability to welcome the world and reinforced the value of continued investment in our Visitor Industry. As we look ahead to Super Bowl LXI and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, continued collaboration between the public and private sector will be essential to ensuring these opportunities create a lasting legacy that benefits all Angelenos."
Los Angeles welcomed 49.5 million visitors in 2025, including 43.1 million domestic visitors and 6.4 million international visitors. International travelers continued to play an important role in the region's visitor economy, with Los Angeles' top international markets including Mexico, China, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Australia, and South Korea. As destinations across the United States navigate evolving global travel trends, Los Angeles remains focused on sustaining its global competitiveness and international connectivity.
Meetings and conventions continued to be a major driver of economic activity. In 2025, the Los Angeles Convention Center hosted 19 citywide conventions, welcoming more than 260,000 attendees, generating more than 209,000 hotel room nights. More than 470 self-contained meetings and events hosted throughout Los Angeles' hotel community generated an additional 254,000 room nights.
Looking ahead, Los Angeles remains focused on leveraging major international events, destination investments and infrastructure improvements to support local businesses, strengthen communities and elevate LA’s standing on the world stage. Alongside FIFA World Cup 26™, Super Bowl LXI and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, major destination investments position the region for the growth of visitation and economic opportunities for years to come. These enhancements include the David Geffen Galleries at LACMA, Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, Destination Crenshaw, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Hollywood, a reimagined West Harbor on the LA Waterfront, the California Science Center’s Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center, the modernization of Los Angeles International Airport, and the expansion of the Los Angeles Convention Center.
