Interview: Ryan Schlemmer, Director of Travel Industry Sales, Fairmont Century Plaza
Meet Ryan Schlemmer, Director of Travel Industry Sales, Fairmont Century Plaza
Ryan, what does luxury mean to the Fairmont Century Plaza?
At Fairmont Century Plaza, we share the common belief that luxury is not just about brick and mortar, it is really about the people. The new luxury is having an authentic connection with everyone at the hotel and about the experience as a whole. Our team will transport the guest far beyond the average hotel, dining, or spa experience. The charismatic energy is contagious, the food and beverage legendary, and our service anticipatory and unparalleled. A key ingredient of our vibe is a genuine passion and enthusiasm from all of our team.
What makes a stay at the Fairmont Century Plaza unique to anywhere else?
Designed by famed architect Minoru Yamasaki, Century Plaza opened in 1966 as the hotel of the future. Fairmont Century Plaza has been completely reimagined with 400 guestrooms each featuring a private terrace, 14,000 sq. ft. spa, a rooftop pool featuring 360 views of Los Angeles. From iconic moments throughout pop culture to contemporary modern luxury, Century Plaza is at the center of it all.
How can US & international travel advisors work with you to craft the perfect luxury stay for their clients?
We want to know more about each guest. What excites them, what are their likes and dislikes? We believe that no stay should be the same, each guest’s experience will be personalized and unique to the individual. Any insight you can share about your client with us before their arrival helps us design local and meaningful experiences, utilizing our personalized programs and amazing partners.
When booking the Fairmont Century Plaza for their clients, what are the key selling points you would suggest travel advisors highlight?
In Los Angeles everyone knows it’s about location, location, location: Century Plaza sits at the apex between the beach and Downtown. Adjacent to the storied glamour of Beverly Hills, the hotel is positioned as a destination that bridges the east and west sides of Los Angeles.
Each guestroom or suite features a furnished terrace, perfect for morning coffee under sunny skies and entertaining with twilight drinks as the sun sets.
Our Rooftop Pool offers 360 views of the Los Angeles with the Pacific Ocean and the Getty to the West, the Hollywood Hills to the North, and Downtown Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Mountains to the South and East, the rooftop at the Fairmont Century Plaza is truly unique.
Fairmont Spa at Century Plaza is a 14,000 square-foot masterpiece with state-of-the-art facilities, experiential showers, a sanarium, a Himalayan salt room, an aromatherapy steam room, and a hammam.
Lumière, is a modern Californian French-inspired brasserie with breathtakingly authentic Parisian design and an equally transformative menu.
