TMD Annual Meeting Recap: March 2017
The TMD Annual Meeting was held on March 9, 2017 at The L.A. Hotel Downtown where TMD hotel general managers and directors of sales and marketing from all regions of Los Angeles gathered to hear about the latest TMD updates and activities. Chairman Javier Cano, Vice President and General Manager of The Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott at L.A. LIVE, discussed the TMD as a significant contributor to L.A.’s sixth consecutive year of record-breaking tourism in 2016 with 47.3 million visitors, LATMD hotels boasting the nation’s highest RevPar growth as well its economic impact on the City. Chairman Cano also presented the TMD’s FY17 budget of $26.6 million. L.A. Tourism’s executive team outlined how the budget will be spent, highlighted several forthcoming events and hotel openings as well as a 2016 recap. L.A. Tourism’s John Boudouvas, vice president of marketing, presented the new Discover Los Angeles brand campaign and Bill Karz, vice president of digital, demonstrated the new Discover Los Angeles app, which will debut in May.
