Start the week with Pegboy, the revered 1990s punk band, at El Cid and finish it with Southern California first wave punks The Zeros ’77 and Roman’s Weirdos at Lodge Room. For dance music fans, your options cross genres from the global fusion Beats Antique on Thursday at Teragram Ballroom to EBM originators Front 242, who bring their final tour to The Mayan on Friday night. Meanwhile, Chromeo and synthwave faves The Midnight hit Greek Theatre on Friday and Blond:ish takes over California Plaza on Saturday.

Pegboy - El Cid (Sep. 9)
Although the band hasn’t released an album since 1997’s Cha-Cha Damore, Pegboy remains a cult favorite amongst fans of Midwestern punk and a consistent draw on their tours. Longtime, San Pedro-based outfit Toys That Kill open this Monday night show at El Cid in Silver Lake. Tickets at Dice.
Tall Juan - Zebulon (Sep. 9)
With his latest album, Raccoon Nights, out on September 6, Tall Juan heads to Los Angeles to play Zebulon on Monday, September 9. The Buenos Aires-raised, New York-based artist has a catalog of songs that range in style from garage rock to ska to psychedelic pop, that will certainly make for an eclectic night. The Tick’s Big Blue Birthday Bash - El Cid (Sep. 10)
In 1994, The Tick leaped from indie comic book pages to the small screen with a Fox Kids animated series that would run for three seasons and remain a cult favorite for decades to follow. Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the series at El Cid on September 10 with special guests like voice actor Townsend Coleman, screenings of original episodes and more. Tickets at Dice.
The Polyphonic Spree - Teragram Ballroom (Sep. 10)
On tour to support their 2023 album, Salvage Enterprise, The Polyphonic Spree heads to Los Angeles on Tuesday, September 10. Catch the choral indie rockers at Teragram Ballroom, where they’ll be joined by Philadelphia-based band Another Michael; and Escape Artist Lovers, the LA-based duo of Kirk Hellie and Rain Phoenix. Jim Ward - Genghis Cohen (Sep. 11)
During his lengthy career, Jim Ward co-founded both At the Drive-In and Sparta, as well as alt-country band Sleepercar. He’s currently on the road for a series of acoustic shows and will headline Genghis Cohen on September 11 with support from Nate Bergman and Still. Jazz on Tap - Hollywood Bowl (Sep. 11)
Savion Glover and Dulé Hill will be the special guests for Jazz on Tap at the Hollywood Bowl on Wednesday, September 11. The performances will also feature GRAMMY winner Christian McBride, the music director for the show, on bass; playing alongside Christian Sands (piano), Rodney Jones (guitar) and Clayton Cameron (drums), plus the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by Thomas Wilkins.
Lightstruck: Ximena Cuevas - 2220 Arts + Archives (Sep. 12)
Influential Mexican video performance artist Ximena Cuevas has brought her work to institutions like LA's Hammer Museum, MoMA in New York and more. On Thursday, September 12, the local experimental film series Lightstruck will be screening a selection of her works at 2220 Arts + Archives. Tickets at Dice.
Beats Antique - Teragram Ballroom (Sep. 12)
Since the latter half of the Aughts, Beats Antique has garnered a following for merging contemporary electronic music, traditional, global sounds and tribal fusion dance. On their current tour, the band is bringing a new show to the stage, complete with unreleased music and fresh dances. Boyz II Men & Paula Abdul - Hollywood Bowl (Sep. 13-15)
Summer comes to a close with the Hollywood Bowl’s Fireworks Finale this weekend! The festivities begin on Friday night with the first of three concerts from ‘90s R&B icons Boyz II Men and pop star Paula Abdul, with both acts performing some of their biggest hits for this end-of-the-season spectacular. The show begins at 8pm on Friday and Saturday night, and Sunday’s performance starts at 7:30pm. For all three nights, the Bowl opens its gates two hours prior to showtime.
Chromeo & The Midnight - The Greek Theatre (Sep. 13)
The Chrome Nights North American Tour brings together Canadian indie dance duo Chromeo, whose most recent album, Adult Contemporary, was released earlier this year, with American synthwavers The Midnight as co-headliners with support from former Chromatics singer Ruth Radelet. The tour hits The Greek Theatre on Friday, September 13 with multiple VIP packages available, including the Chromeo Date Night Experience, with a meet & greet and photo opportunity; and The Midnight Up Close VIP Experience, which includes a group Q&A. Front 242 - Mayan Theatre (Sep. 13)
More than 40 years after they formed, Belgian EBM outfit Front 242 is touring for the last time. “Black Out: The Final Shows” hits Los Angeles on Friday, September 13, when the group takes the stage at The Mayan. After years of making music that has deeply influenced LA's’ dance music scenes, it’s fitting that locals Riki and Spike Hellis open the show. Be sure to arrive early for their sets! Claptone - Exchange LA (Sep. 13)
Masked house heavy-hitter Claptone heads to Exchange LA on Friday, September 13. Known for his Masquerade residency at Amnesia in Ibiza, the German DJ is bound to pack the floor with a mix of classic and current jams. VIP table reservations are available for this special event.
Oliver Koletzki & HVOB - Avalon Hollywood (Sep. 14)
On tracks like his recently released “Bells of Kakariko,” Berlin-based DJ/producer Oliver Koletzki blurs the lines of dance music genres to create a unique and engaging sound. Catch him play an extended set on Friday, September 13 at Avalon Hollywood, presented by local party promotion teams Minimal Effort and SBCLTR. Green Day & Smashing Pumpkins - SoFi Stadium (Sep. 14)
Green Day’s current tour is more than just a jaunt to showcase their latest album, Saviors. It’s also a 30th anniversary celebration for their breakthrough album, Dookie, and a 20th anniversary party for the 2004 blockbuster, American Idiot. The band will play both albums in their entirety, in addition to new tunes. Joining Green Day at SoFi Stadium on Saturday, September 14 are The Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and LA's own The Linda Lindas. Independencia Mexicana feat. El As de la Sierra - The Paramount (Sep. 14)

Bush - The Greek Theatre (Sep. 15)

Opening the show is Bones UK, the GRAMMY-nominated British rock duo with a throwback alternative rock vibe whose latest album, Soft, goes live just two days before this show.
Ben Folds - The Wiltern (Sep. 15)
When Ben Folds plays The Wiltern on Sunday, September 15, you might get your request played. That is, if Folds finds it in the mess of paper airplanes on stage. For this tour, fans receive the paper, where they’ll write their request. They’ll fold the paper into an airplane and launch it when instructed to do so. The Zeros ’77 - Lodge Room (Sep. 15)
Formed by teenagers from Chula Vista, The Zeros became part of Southern California’s initial, late 1970s wave of punk rock. When the band played LA for the first time, it was alongside local trailblazers The Weirdos. On Sunday, September 15, The Zeros ’77, featuring original members Robert Lopez (who also performs as El Vez) and Hector Penalosa, will play Highland Park’s Lodge Room with Roman’s Weirdos, helmed by founding member of The Weirdos, Cliff Roman. Bounce House opens the show.
