September 2024 in LA ends with the second of Air’s sold-out show at The Orpheum, where the French band will be performing their breakthrough album, Moon Safari; and October begins with famed composer Hans Zimmer’s sold-out concert at Crypto.com Arena. In fact, the first week of the month is packed with sold-out shows, including Devendra Banhart at The Ford, Justice at the Hollywood Bowl and Sega Bodega at El Rey Theatre. If you weren’t able to score tickets for any of those shows, don’t stress because there is a lot more happening this week.
On October 2, André 3000 heads to the Greek Theatre with Sudan Archives. Thursday, October 3, is slammed with must-see shows, including Shannon and the Clams at the Wiltern, Oneohtrix Point Never at the Palladium, Los Bitchos at Teragram Ballroom and Hot Chip’s DJ set at Echoplex. As for the weekend, industrial club night Das Bunker celebrates its 28th anniversary on Friday, while Carl Craig brings his Detroit Love event to Los Angeles and horsegiirL’s throws a Hayfever party in Chinatown on Saturday night.

Fiona Moonchild - Genghis Cohen (Sep. 30)
Fiona Moonchild, best known for her work with Scott Yoder, released debut solo album, Sweets of Reason, three years ago and is now in the midst of her first solo headlining tour. Catch Moonchild, whose music merges ‘70s-style glam, post-punk and synthpop with an ‘00s DIY edge, at Genghis Cohen. Opening up the show are LA’s own “funk wizard” Chaki and lo-fi, cosmic folk band Nighttime. Tickets to the all-ages show at Dice.
Glen Hansard - The Wiltern (Oct. 1)
Glen Hansard, the Irish indie rocker who came to prominence as half of the Academy Award-winning duo The Swell Season, spent the late summer touring with Pearl Jam. Now, he and his band are on a headlining stretch across the U.S. in support of last year’s full-length album, All That Was East Is West of Me Now. Catch him at The Wiltern on Tuesday, October 1. Allah-Las - The Bellwether (Oct. 1)
LA’s own Allah-Las, who formed over 15 years ago while working at mega-record store Amoeba and released their most recent album, the beachy Zuma 85, last year, conclude their current tour with a hometown show on October 1. Catch them at Downtown LA’s Bellwether. Joining them are fellow locals Sam Blasucci, whose new album, Real Life Thing, is out in November; and Maston. Tickets to the all-ages show at Ticketmaster.
André 3000 - The Greek Theatre (Oct. 2)
Last year, hip-hop superstar André 3000 surprised fans with the release of his flute-centric ambient album New Blue Sun. He brings the live incarnation of the project to The Greek Theatre on Wednesday, October 2, where he’ll be joined by bandmates Carlos Niño, Surya Botofasina, Nate Mercereau and Deantoni Parks. Opening the night will be indie R&B favorite, Sudan Archives. The venue opens 90 minutes before the 8pm showtime. Tickets at Ticketmaster.
Shannon and the Clams - The Wiltern (Oct. 3)
Earlier this year, Shannon and the Clams released The Moon Is In the Wrong Place, a gut-wrenching and beautiful album that came as a response to the 2022 death of singer Shannon Shaw’s fiancé. It’s one of this year’s most compelling albums and it brings the band on their second tour of the year. Shannon and the Clams play The Wiltern on Thursday, October 3 with long-running New Orleans band The Deslondes, whose latest album, Roll It Out, came out in September; and locals Thee Heart Tones.

Oneohtrix Point Never - Hollywood Palladium (Oct. 3)
Before he heads out to play the sold-out Form Arcosanti festival in Arizona, Oneohtrix Point Never brings his Again show to the Hollywood Palladium on Thursday, October 3. The acclaimed electronic musician collaborated with multi-disciplinary artist Freeka Tet and animator Nate Boyce to build the visually intriguing show. Rounding out this truly eclectic night are opening sets from new age pianist Laaraji and seminal drone metal band Earth.

Los Bitchos - Teragram Ballroom (Oct. 3)
On their latest album, Talkie Talkie, UK-based Los Bitchos solidified their reputation as global party rockers with a mix of psychedelic grooves and soulful stompers designed to make your body move. Catch the instrumental band at Teragram Ballroom on Thursday, October 3, for the final night of their jaunt across the U.S. and Canada. Tickets at Ticketmaster.
Hot Chip (DJ Set) - Echoplex (Oct. 3)
With the 20th anniversary re-release of their debut album Coming on Strong about to drop, indie dance faves Hot Chip head to the decks at The Echoplex on Thursday, October 3, where they will be DJing alongside synth wizard Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. Tickets to the 18+ show at Live Nation.
Das Bunker 28: Pixel Grip & Dildox - Catch One (Oct. 4)
LA’s premier industrial dance party, Das Bunker, celebrates its 28th anniversary on Friday, October 4, at Catch One with four dance floors and special live performances from Chicago-based outfit Pixel Grip and local darkwave duo Dildox. The party goes until 3am.
Day Trip Block Party - 1756 Naud St. (Oct. 4)
Insomniac’s popular party series, Day Trip, hosts its first block part on Friday, October 4. Head to 1756 Naud St. in Chinatown between 5pm and 11pm to catch DJ sets from MK, Lee Foss, Aybo, Coco & Breezy and Arkade. VIP tickets, which include quick entry and a dedicated viewing area and bar, are available.
Los Ángeles Azules - YouTube Theater (Oct. 4-5)
Los Ángeles Azules, the long-running cumbia sonidera who, just a few years ago, became the first cumbia outfit to play Coachella, return to Los Angeles on October 4 and 5. Catch the family band, who released their latest album, Se Agradece, at YouTube Theater on Friday and Saturday night. Tickets at Ticketmaster.
Korn - BMO Stadium (Oct. 5)
Nu-metal icons Korn are celebrating their 30th anniversary with a concert at BMO Stadium on Saturday, October 5. They'll be joined by Evanescence, as well as French band Gojira, who astounded television viewers with their performance for the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
