LA Pride weekend may be over, but the party continues this weekend with LGBTQ+ Pride Night at Dodger Stadium on Friday and Saturday night’s Pride Is Universal afterhours party inside Universal Studios Hollywood.
For drag fans, this week offers everything from local, indie shows, like Pink Pony Club at Akbar, to the Boulet Brothers’ Dragula touring event. On the live music front, Camera Obscura, Vampire Weekend, Enrique Bunbury and Charli XCX are just a few of the big names playing LA this week. That’s all in addition to the annual Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival happening over the weekend. Dance music fans can look forward to a block party, a boat party and everything in between. Chase Lounge - Akbar (June 10)
Keep the party going after LA Pride Weekend on Monday night at Akbar, where Chase Lounge hosts Pink Pony Club. The “all sapphic” drag night features performances beginning at 8pm, doors open an hour earlier. You can RSVP on Eventbrite, but tickets are only sold at the door on the evening of the event.
Camera Obscura - The Wiltern (June 11)
In May, beloved Scottish indie pop band Camera Obscura released Look to the East, Look to the West, their first album in more than a decade. Their U.S. tour hits The Wiltern on Tuesday night with photo ops opening the show. VIP Club Access ticket upgrades, which allow access to the venue’s Underground Lounge one hour prior to General Admission time, are available for this show.
Jazz Sabbath - Catalina Jazz Club (June 11)
Jazz Sabbath, the British trio led by Adam Wakeman, Ozzy Osbourne’s touring keyboardist and guitarist, brings their take on Black Sabbath classics to Catalina Jazz Club. Tuesday is the band’s first of two night’s at the Hollywood venue. Doors open 90 minutes before the show and dinner or a two drink minimum is required at the supper club. Vampire Weekend - Hollywood Bowl (June 12)
Vampire Weekend’s tour in support of their new album, Only God Was Above Us, is an extensive jaunt across the U.S. and Canada that boasts a roster of support acts that crosses genres and generations. Joining the indie band at the Hollywood Bowl are two-tone icons The English Beat and ‘90s ska punks Voodoo Glow Skulls. Tickets to the all-ages show are on sale at Ticketmaster.
Western Standard Time Ska Orchestra - Venice West (June 12)
Western Standard Time Ska Orchestra fuses big band jazz and Jamaican music in performances that can feature upwards of 20 musicians. Jesse Wagner of The Aggrolites joins WSTSO on vocals for this performance. Also playing are The Chris Murray Combo with members of The Steady 45’s and The Aggrolites, plus vinyl DJ Dave Hahn. Made to Move feat. Amal - General Lee’s (June 13)
Amal, of the acclaimed Washington D.C.-based group Black Rave Culture, drops by the monthly party Made to Move for a special extended DJ set at General Lee's in Chinatown. Akumen, Andy Oro and No Pressure will warm up the dance floor. Tickets at Resident Advisor.
Pride Month Barbie - Resident (June 13)
LA-based duo Pride Month Barbie makes high energy electropop that flirts with hyperpop. Join them for the release party celebrating their new album All the Girls in the Room Say “Sorry” at Resident on Thursday night. Telepathic Children and Cause//Effect open and Soltera DJs. Tickets at Eventbrite.
"The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula" - The Belasco (June 13)
The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula, the reality series for those who prefer drag with an edge, is on the road with current Drag Supermonster Niohuru X and competition runners-up Blackberri, Orkgotik and Throb Zombie. The ticket upgrade package for LA includes early entry to The Belasco, photos with the Boulet Brothers and Monsters, plus you’ll get to take part in the live recording of the “Creatures of the Night” podcast. Peach PRC - The Fonda Theatre (June 13)
Australian pop singer and TikTok star, Peach PRC stops by the Fonda Theatre on Thursday night. There are multiple ticket upgrades available for this show, but for diehard fans, the most enticing one is the VIP Soundcheck + Q/A Package, allowing concert-goers to get a sneak peek of the night’s show. Tickets to the all-ages concert are on sale at the Fonda Theatre website.
LGBTQ+ Pride Night - Dodger Stadium (June 14)
An official LA Pride event, this year’s LGBTQ+ Pride Night at Dodger Stadium begins just after 5pm with a pre-game party in Center Field Plaza. Your Pride night ticket package also includes a Dodgers Pride jersey!
Manics - The Moroccan Lounge (June 14)
For those who want to see electronic music performed live, Wave Decay is the event series for you. This Friday, MANICS, who recently played EDC, headline at The Moroccan Lounge with the premiere of a new audio/visual experience. They’ll be joined by partywithray and waxthieves.
Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival (June 15-16)
The Hollywood Bowl Jazz Festival returns this weekend for two days filled with an eclectic lineup hosted by Arsenio Hall. Saturday’s event features performances from Jodeci, Andra Day, Christian McBride and more. Sunday’s lineup includes Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper and The Soul Rebels.
Pride is Universal - Universal Studios Hollywood (June 15)
LA Pride’s official event at Universal Studios Hollywood, Pride is Universal will head into the wee hours of Saturday morning. Your ticket will grant you entrance into the park at 4pm (2pm if you have a VIP pass), but Pride attendees will be able to keep the party going after USH closes to the public. From 10pm until 2am, the afterhours event will feature dance floors, bars, plus access to rides and other attractions. Tickets at See Tickets.
