Coming Soon: Holocaust Museum LA is Expanding

Groups meeting in LA will soon get to explore the expanded Holocaust Museum LA. After years of planning and anticipation, the 2025 plans will soon take shape for the cultural center.

With the expansion, the museum aims to provide history seekers, educators, students, and others with a spine-tingling and reverent experience that will stay with them long after they leave.

Founded in 1961 as the first survivor-founded and oldest Holocaust museum in the United States, Holocaust Museum LA is uniquely connected to our city. With a distinctive emphasis on the Los Angeles narrative, the educational and commemorative institution tells the stories of local survivors and displays an extensive collection of artifacts from 1933 - 1945.

Currently, the museum has reached capacity to accommodate the rising number of students and tour groups that want to visit each year. The expansion will allow the center to increase its annual visitor capacity, expand its educational programs and preservation of survivor testimonies, and display new exhibits.
 
To make these changes possible, there are plans to add a new Learning Center Pavilion. The new structure will be the size of a football field in length.
 
Inside the Pavilion, there will be 3,000 sq. ft. of special exhibition space and a 200-seat theater dedicated to USC Shoah Foundation’s Dimensions in Testimony—featuring film screenings, concerts, conferences and public programs.
 
Outside, tour groups and visitors will be able to enjoy outdoor reflective spaces. In addition, a new Boxcar Pavilion will be constructed on top of the existing building of the museum. It will house an authentic boxcar found outside of the Majdanek death camp in Poland.
 

Once completed, the newly expanded museum will allow planners to bring their groups to a more state-of-the-art cultural center where their attendees can learn about this tragic time in history from locals who survived it. It also will give planning professionals the opportunity to partner with a nonprofit institution to expand their corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts and be an ally to our community.
