LOS ANGELES (April 20, 2023) — Adam Burke, President & CEO, Los Angeles Tourism today issued the following statement on the passing of former L.A. Mayor Richard Riordan:

“It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Mayor Richard Riordan, a visionary leader who played a vital role in making Los Angeles the sports and entertainment capital of the world. His passing is felt deeply in the tourism industry, where he was a great supporter of our city's growth and development.

“As a leading industry and employer in Los Angeles, tourism owes much to Mayor Riordan's unwavering commitment to promoting our city's unique attractions and destinations. He understood the importance of tourism to our local economy and worked tirelessly to showcase all that Los Angeles has to offer.

“Thanks to his leadership, Los Angeles has become a global destination for visitors seeking world-class entertainment, sports, and cultural experiences.

“We will never forget Mayor Riordan's contributions to the tourism industry and to our city as a whole. His legacy will continue to inspire us to strive for excellence and make Los Angeles the best it can be.
