Messhall Film Festival - Season 2

Messhall Film Festival (MHFF) is back for a second season and will premiere 8 short films and 2 mini shorts at the iconic neighborhood restaurant on November 8th, 2023 at 6pm. MHFF is a collaboration between Messhall Kitchen’s talented staff and regular restaurant patrons from the film industry who worked together to create short films that were produced and filmed entirely within the space of the restaurant. The MHFF premiere, sponsored by Steven Soderbergh’s Singani 63, is invitation-only, but the public will have the opportunity to enjoy the films at four free public showings, November 13, 15, 27 & 29, 2023, 6pm - 7:30pm, at Messhall Kitchen.

A few new restaurant regulars joining this season’s production include director Elvira Ibragimova (Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder), Rachel Imbriglio (Casting Associate with UDK Casting) who is shifting her focus to directing for this project, award-winning commercial and documentary director Tony Franklin, Vivian Lee (Producer: The Dark Crystal, Lost in Space), actor/comedian/influencer Tara Erickson with scripts by AJ Brooks, and production designer Rebecca Scott. Returning for a second year are writer Aaron Bleyaert (Team Coco), director Charles Papert (DP: American History “X”, Office Space, and Key and Peele), cinematographer/director Anton Floquet (Ice Loves Coco, The Big Talent Bee), actor Brian Durkin (Writer: MacGyver, Actor: Grey’s Anatomy, Mad Men, 24), director Kalif Fuller, and director/cinematographer Stefan Colson, to name a few. The Messhall staff shows up this year with new scripts by actress/writer/director/producer Natasha Ivkovic, actor/writer Gina Brown, award winning director and writer Cristi Rumpza, a directorial debut from Jon Bangle, and (spoiler alert) Andrew Pack may or may not give an epic death scene, again.

Patrons are invited to view the films at Messhall Kitchen’s back patio and enjoy MHFF drink and food specials. Films will start at exactly 6pm and run straight through until 7:30pm.
