Celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Cavalcade of Jazz with the launch of The Impresario Leon Hefflin and the World’s First Annual Jazz Festival, a 555-page illustrated history honoring Leon Hefflin Sr. The evening will feature live entertainment, community acknowledgments, and a surprise element exclusive to the event. Leon Hefflin Sr., who produced the Cavalcade of Jazz concerts (1945–1958), the largest annual jazz festival in the world, also owned the largest African-American-owned furniture company in Watts, established in 1927 just 1.5 miles from the venue.
