FEATURED MEMBER: THE FORUM
LATCB’s featured member for December is The Forum in Inglewood, one of rock music’s most storied venues, where Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley and the Rolling Stones are just a few of the giants that have performed. The Forum was purchased by Madison Square Garden Co., which announced plans in July to invest $100 million in a dramatic makeover and a January opening with the iconic California band, The Eagles. The Eagles will be bringing their highly successful "History of the Eagles" tour to the Forum on Jan. 15, 17 and 18. The re-made Forum is sure to attract the biggest names in pop music to Los Angeles.
In addition to the Eagles, The Forum already has a stellar line-up of performances to get 2014 off to a brilliant start, including Justin Timberlake in January, Imagine Dragons in February, Paul Simon & Sting in February, and Armin Van Buren in May, to name just a few.
Madison Square Garden told KPCC 89.3 FM that it expected the Forum to bring a total economic impact of $1.4 billion, and that its construction created more than 320 full-time jobs. The venue is expected to create 260 full-time jobs. The renovated Forum has 8,000 square feet of new hospitality space, with food and beverage concessions and souvenir shops, and 17,500 all-new red velvet theater seats where guests can gaze up at a star-filled LED-lit ceiling. The Forum’s on-site events team is able to create events to suit any needs, tastes and budget.
