7:15pm Pre-concert Interview with Composer Ferguson & BCSO Maestro, Dr. Pope

8:00pm Concert Start

Reception following concert

BCSO’s concert begins at 8pm; however, the 7:15pm pre-concert lecture will feature an interview with local composer Niall Tarō Ferguson, whose work “Inyo County Echoes” will be performed for the first time ever. Ferguson’s piece will be performed alongside Copland’s “An Outdoor Overture” and Liszt’s “Les Preludes.”

Ferguson’s appearance is part of Maestro Dr. Geoffrey Pope’s new vision for the orchestra to, along with presenting favorite classical pieces, also showcase local composers who may not have the chance for their music to be performed by a large orchestra.

“Niall Ferguson is an extremely talented cellist, composer, cellist and orchestrator out of UCLA’s Herb Alpert’s School of Music whose works and philosophy deserve exposure,” said Dr. Pope. “I encourage attendees of our audience to attend my pre-concert interview conversation with him to gain more insight into this moving work and Niall’s musical worlds.”
