The first ever Messhall Film Festival (MHFF), produced by actors/writers/producers Jon Bangle and Andrew Pack, will feature eight short films at the iconic neighborhood restaurant. MHFF is a collaboration between Messhall Kitchen’s talented staff and regular restaurant patrons from the film industry who worked together to create short films that were produced and filmed entirely within the space of the restaurant.
For the past 10 years, Messhall has been a welcoming neighborhood gem in the heart of Los Feliz where Hollywood hopefuls and industry professionals have mixed and mingled over comfort food and craft cocktails, forging genuine relationships along the way. With a goal of creating for the sake of creating, the producers were met with overwhelming interest by both staff and customers, and created eight films over eight weeks with small crews, no budget, overnight call times and completely within the confines of Messhall Kitchen.
Regular restaurant patrons and collaborators include, Berkley Johnson (New Girl, Late Night with Conan O’Brien), Aaron Bleyaert (Team Coco), Charles Papert (American History “X”, Office Space, and Key and Peele), Maria Burton (Five Sisters Productions), Kalif Fuller (PIX Systems and directorial projects to come), Neal Tyler (Cesar Millan and Live Rescue), and Brian Durkin (Grey’s Anatomy, Mad Men, 24).
Enjoy four free public showings, November 14, 16, 28 & 30, 2022, 6pm - 7:30pm, at Messhall. A special “MHFF Menu'' will be available during the public showings that include drink and food specials.
