Foothills Dancemakers, founded in 2019 as a vibrant consortium of modern dance companies in the shadow of the San Gabriel Mountains, announces their second concert in September. Benita Bike's DanceArt, Pennington Dance Group, Nancy Evans Dance Theatre and Lineage Dance will present a joint concert Saturday, September 24 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 25 at 4 p.m. at A ROOM TO CREATE in Pasadena, California.
▪ Benita Bike's DanceArt, in its 42nd season, will present Bike's new work Griot Songs and a duet from the dance Entrelazadas.
▪ Pennington Dance Group, founded by John Pennington in 2000, will perform Skins and excerpts from Goodman Dances, both works choreographed by Pennington.
▪ Nancy Evans Dance Theatre is entering its 14th season and will present two solos: Clearing, a reconstruction of Viola Farber’s choreography restaged by Jeff Slayton; and Safe, a multimedia dance work choreographed by Nancy Evans Doede, with original score by Nikolaos Crist Doede.
▪ Lineage Dance was established by Hilary Thomas in Pasadena in 1999. The company will present Dancing for Joy, created in collaboration with Lineage’s movement classes for people with neurological conditions, and From a Sister’s Length, a duet that honors the true story of two sisters supporting one another through simultaneous cancer journeys.
Foothills Dancemakers concerts take place on Saturday, September 24th at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 25th at 4 p.m. Tickets are $20, general admission, and $15 for DRC, students, and seniors with valid ID.
