Reimagine & The Leimert Park Community Present: Loss, Life & Love Festival

Reimagine & The Leimert Park Community Present: Loss, Life & Love Festival
Sep 24, 2022  |  12:00PM - 6:00PM

Reimagine, in partnership with leaders from the historic Leimert Park neighborhood in South Los Angeles, presents Loss, Life & Love, a three-day festival that will support attendees in exploring mortality, grieving loss, and celebrating strength. From Thursday, September 22 through Saturday, September 24, 2022, in-person and virtual events will draw on the arts, healthcare, and spirituality to shine a light on taboo conversations often hidden in the shadows. For more information, please visit letsreimagine.org/losslifelovefestival.

Day three's (Sat. 9/24) six-hour concert will feature a multigenerational line-up of musicians performing on the People Street Stage. The festival also features community events & workshops, art-making, an art installation/ritual, and more.

Attendees (live or online) will experience different “sets” with music that connects to those who have come before as well as weaving a tapestry that brings together themes of loss, life, and love through song:

Kenneth Crouch paying tribute to his late uncle, the gospel legend Andraé Crouch.

Four generations of jazz in Leimert Park will be presented, ranging from drumming legend Billy Higgins to Terrace Martin, who will be joined by Harold “Stemsy” Hunter. Stemsy performed regularly with Higgins and was the co-founder of The World Stage. This will mark his return to performing in Leimert Park after almost two decades.

The House of Vibe Allstars Collective, led by Anthony “Brew” Brewster, will feature Supernatural MC, Medusa, I.Khan, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Phillip “Fish” Fisher, and Blvk H3ro. The Fernando Pullum Community Arts Center Band will play with the musicians, as ensemble members.

This is a free event (for in-person attendance). Or, there's a sliding scale to “attend” online.
