Join Kate Ramos of ¡Hola! Jalapeño and Aida Mollenkamp of Salt and Wind for a Tamale-Making Workshop in the beautiful FeedFeed LA space!

About this Event

A tamalada is a traditional gathering of friends and family around the holidays to join in the task of making the season’s tamales. The gorgeous FeedFeedLA space will be our backdrop for this delicious fiesta. We'll even enjoy a margarita or two from our partners at Tequila Cazadores. Sparkling water from our friends at Topo Chico will also be flowing.

On November 17, from 11am-3pm you will learn everything there is to know about tamales. From how to make the masa dough using Masienda’s single-origin masa harina to three types of fillings. You will be filling, rolling, steaming—and of course—eating, a meat tamal, a vegetarian tamal, and even a sweet tamal.

All the tamales you make, you will be able to take home and enjoy the fruits of your labor!

After we cook for a bit, we will sit down and enjoy a tamale lunch prepared by your talented instructors, Kate Ramos from ¡Hola! Jalapenõ and Aida Mollenkamp, from Salt & Wind. Check out the menu below!

About the Instructors

Kate Ramos is the Creator of ¡Hola! Jalapeño, a Mexican food blog. She is a former chef turned recipe developer, food photographer, and stylist. On her blog she creates vibrant, healthy Mexican recipes, merging authentic fresh ingredients and flavors with modern preparations.

Aida Mollenkamp is the Founder and Editor-and-Chief of Salt & Wind, a travel site for food lovers. Aida is a food and travel expert, author, and Food Network personality. She has a deep love of Mexican cuisine and culture and has traveled extensively throughout the country. She leads group trips to many places in Mexico including Mexico City, Valle de Guadalupe, Oaxaca City, and more.
