The Voices of Opera (OPENING DAY)

The Voices of Opera
Oct 16, 2019  |  1:00PM - 3:00PM

(THROUGH NOV. 13) At its best, opera shows off the greatest instrument: the human voice. Beautifully thrilling voices create a truly grand, exciting experience for audiences. In this new class, learn and analyze what it takes to cast the right voice for the right role. Examine recordings and videos of great artists performing arias and ensembles, and compare similarities and differences between the voices of opera and those of popular songs.

Instructor: Earl J. Schub is Dean Emeritus of Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. He served as director of marketing and executive producer for television at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and manager of Western Opera Theater in San Francisco. He holds an MBA in arts management from UCLA.
