Pre-story of the film.
My name is Oxana, I made a documentary film about Madonna fans and I dedicated it to Madonna for saving my life.
Four years ago, I was in the worst place of my life. An abusive relationship had just ended and left me broken. I lost my light. I lost myself. One day, I was so tired of living this way that I decided to spend my savings to see Madonna on tour just to not sit at home and drink. I’m a big fan of hers since I was a child.
I could never imagine, that Madonna, who didn’t know anything about me or my life, invited me to join her on stage in Minneapolis and then a few months later in Puerto Rico. She gave me so much courage and confidence that I was missing. I met a lot of people whose lives have changed because of her.
I overcame depression, I began a healthy lifestyle and I decided to follow my dream to become a film maker and to start a dream project. I wanted to create a film, that no one had ever done before about Madonna fans and how Madonna inspires them in a better way.
I was working double shifts in restaurants to collect money to make this film. I spent 4 years of my life making this project. I put all of my heart and soul into this film. While living in NYC, I organized shootings in Australia, America, U.K., and Russia and spent countless days and nights working via skype with a film editor from Russia. I could never afford to hire an editor in America.
Recently, I had a private screening in NYC. Over 200 people came and left the theater with tears in their eyes. I got so much amazing feedback. A lot of people asked me, what am I going to do with this film, if I will distribute it somewhere on Netflix or on DVD? I don’t know to be honest, when and where it will be available. Making money from this film was never my priority. I just love the idea of private screenings. I love to share with other fans our experiences during the tour, and our personal stories. The only thing I want more than anything is for Madonna to see my film.
