L.A. Jazz Institute's Best From the West Festival
Celebrating Los Angeles Jazz
This year's LA Jazz Institute Festival, May 24-26, is all about the big bands of the West and features LA's top big bands during a three-day jazz extravaganza with concerts, panel discussions, and historic film showings from the LA Jazz Institute archives. Jazz fans travel to Los Angeles from all over the world to participate in this unique event. This year's theme is "Best from the West - Ultimate Big Band Experience" and features the big bands of Gordon Goodwin, Johnny Mandel, Bill Holman, Bernie Dresel, Mike Barone, Steve Huffsteter, Kim Richmond, Roger Neumann, Scott Whitfield, Johnny Mandel, Tom Kubis, Phil Norman, Chris Walden, Rob McConnell and Bob Florence, as well as combos led by Rickey Woodard, Lanny Morgan, Doug Webb, and Carl Saunders. You'll see and hear the best of the best LA big band jazz musicians! 21 concerts in all!
The Westin Hotel at Los Angeles Airport is located at 5400 West Century Blvd. / Los Angeles CA 90045, between Aviation and the 405. The festival will present more than 20 events between 24 and 26 May, 2019. The Los Angeles Jazz Institute houses and maintains one of the largest jazz archives in the world. All styles and eras are represented with a special emphasis on the preservation and documentation of jazz in Southern California. The overall mission of the Jazz Institute is to preserve, promote and perpetuate the heritage of this important American art form.
