It’s a GO for the Topanga Banjo*Fiddle Contest and Folk Music Festival!

On the Main Stage, this year, is Angel City Bluegrass Band, Sausage Grinder, Hot October (Bluegrass) and Evie Ladin.

As you have been reading in the papers and possibly have swung by for a look, the Western Town at Paramount Ranch, in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, was almost totally destroyed by the recent Woolsey Fire.  However, Paramount Ranch still looks good; There is a wonderful carpet of grass and many, if not most, of the trees look the same or are sprouting new growth thanks to the recent rains. The stream is flowing and the big, old oak tree in the coral area is sprouting new leaves but some of the smaller trees aren’t doing as well. The chapel in the meadow area is still there (built by the HBO show, “Westworld”) and sporting a new set of stairs, as is the Railroad Stage where Dr. Quinn – Medicine Woman was filmed.

The good news is that we received the go-ahead from the National Park Service and they are helping us to get our legendary festival on track again for May 19th, for the 59th time! Come and don’t “Feel-The-Burn”, but “Feel-The-Healing!”

We’ll have the same:

·       Contests on 4 different stages but the stages, in some cases, will be relocated slightly

·       Professional Bands!

·       Jamming all over Paramount Ranch and under the trees

·       Food trucks galore

·       Workshops

·       Hand-made craft booths

·       Exhibit booths

·       Children’s’ activities

·       Folk, Square and Flat-foot dancing

·       Free Parking

·       Online ticket sales

Many of the families that were impacted by the Woolsey fire will be there along with all the folks that come every year for the largest, best Bluegrass/Folk Music scene in Southern California!

The bottom line is that we will have a different “look” this year as most of the famous Western Town facades are gone but Mother Nature will be there all decked out so come over and see us in our new/old, natural setting. Grab your tickets on line and save some dough or, better yet, volunteer for a couple of hours and get in for free. Be sure to check the website for updates, ticket and volunteering opportunities:
