Cake Girl

Located inside the historic St. Louis Drug Pharmacy, Cake Girl (210 E. 1st St, Boyle Heights 90033) is an allergy-friendly little Boyle Heights bakery that serves up cupcakes, donuts and cake on the old soda fountain counter. Try their signature cold brew with horchata or call ahead to find out the muffin of the day. Owners Amy and Andres are happy to help you make the difficult decision between a double chocolate brownie or strawberry churro cupcake.

Luckily for LA, the Berkeley-based franchise has expanded their gourmet cinnamon bun business to Echo Park (2134 Sunset Blvd Suite E, Los Angeles 90026). Choose a frosting flavor and a topping or let them do it for you with one of their best-selling combos. The mini Baby Buns and pro-wrapped four-pack of cinnamon rolls are perfect for parties (guaranteed no one will know they’re vegan)!

Das Baker (Doomies)

Doomies now has two locations - Hollywood and Culver City. Both restaurants offer decadent goodies created by Das Baker (Franck Huyghe—the classically-trained pastry chef who got his start in France.) He is the mastermind behind their flakey “hot ham-n-cheese” croissants, rich German chocolate cake, giant fork-hashed peanut butter cookies and more. They do wedding and birthday cakes, too!

Now the mother-daughter team behind the sweetness has a brick-and-mortar East Hollywood location (4871 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles 90029) serving up hot vegan scones, croissants, muffins, coffee cakes and tarts on the daily. Open-faced sandwiches get an Armenian makeover on fresh matnakash bread and there is always a decent selection of gluten-free options on hand, too.

Ladurée by Matthew Kenney

Mais oui! Celebrity chef Matthew Kenney revamped the menu of 150-year-old French patisserie Ladurée (311 N. Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills 90210), making it the first 100% vegan location of the beloved chain. A box of pistachio, rose, or hemp macarons makes a gorgeous gift, or enjoy the tea time menu onsite with biscuits, finger sandwiches, pound cake and a hot beverage.
